Some songs just sound better with a thin pick
I pick individual notes, somewhat like "finger picking" with a pick. This pick provides a soft caress of the string unlike a thicker pick that makes the sound brittle and hard. I love this pick!

Awesome and slick pick.
They are awesome to improve stamina when playing and you don't need to apply too much effort for the picking. I like the Metallica James and Kirk Signature picks and those last for a long long run, this one's are really comfortable but for metal they run out really quickly. These are probably for slower and smoother guitar playing like jazz maybe.

It is extra heavy
So I played cello for years got into a car accident and could not hold a bow. So I bought a cello banjo. That’s right and yes I play Bach on it. But I had never ever used a pick. So I bought some and after a bit the Dunlop extra heavy wins! My larger gauge strings have a consistent sound and I could not be more delighted. I did try the heavy, just a tad too much flex, ergo extra heavy. Thin picks were like straws on metal too limp no consistent sound at all. As a note I did try the 3 mm big stubby and while I loved the action the pick noise was noticeable so they did not make it I do however bet an electric bassist would go nuts over those. As to the cons, on the extra heavy I have none. I needed a consistent sound for baroque music and these provide it. While it would be unfair to make an overall statement for all instruments I will say that as I keep practicing these allow me to progress more quickly than other picks would.

Great pick, but did not get the pick that's shown. There is a difference!
Perfect pick for playing acoustic. Pick choices are personal, but i've always liked heavy picks for tone control. I discovered this exact pick in an assortment pack and after playing hundreds of other brands and materials this was like finding a "grail" pick. But I only had one, and I carried it around with me like a recovering addict carry's a 1 year chip. So I ordered more. But be careful what you order on Amazon though. The picks that I received are not the ones pictured. I received the free form font Dunlop X-H (see photo), not the one pictured. Color and feel are exactly the same but, there is a subtle difference between the picks. The one in the picture has a slightly more rounded tip. The free form font ones are rounded too, but more pointed. The subtle difference is not major but noticeable. I like the more rounded tip. I thought something was off so I went to the local guitar shop and I got some original font X-Heavy in white celluloid so I can find them easily when I drop them on floor in a dark room. I've added a photo so you can see the difference. Four stars because I didn't get what I paid for.

Virually a twin of the classic Fender pick-this one is a bit more durable, with smoother edges
I have been playing guitar for 45 years, and prefer the feel and tone of celluloid picks like this one. I tried many shapes and materials, and discovered this one is a classic for good reason. It lends itself to a wide variety of styles and techniques--pinch harmonics, strumming, single note picking, hybrid picking etc. These Dunlop picks are very, very similar to the Fender classic picks. I have used the Dunlop for about 20 hours, and so far, their edges seem to stay intact longer (i.e., they don't get grooves), and they have a smoother edge than the Fenders. Tone--wise these and the Fenders have identical celluloid tone, the one that I love. Time will tell, but I might develop a preference for the Dunlop over the Fenders. For now, they are similar enough for me to think of them as essentially the same pick.

well made!
We've had these now for a year and a half. They are well made and hold up. In that whole time we have had only one start to rip/crack and need to be thrown out. Otherwise the celluloid is fresh and holding up very well. I would definitely buy these again but with how well they are holding up I don't think we will need to for another 2 years. Very good product!

Pick is Good. Shipping is High.
I've been using this product for more than several years. I, as a seasoned guitarist, prefer the sound that a celluloid pick creates. The gauge of this particular pick is perfect for my picking style.

Great picks
A little thicker than the traditional .80 JD 'heavy' tortoise shell celluloid picks. No beveled edges so you have to wear them in a bit.

Great Pics
I like hard and comfortable pics that sit well and stay where you want them to. These do the job perfectly for me. My now go-to pics.

Great quality guitar picks
This an excellent quality set of 12 guitar picks. They are sturdy and durable so should last awhile with normal usage of guitar playing. These picks are great for both beginner and advanced guitar players. They are lovely purple colour and they really stand out. They have the Jim Dunlop logo on them. They are comfortable to hold in you hand and fingers and do not dig into your skin.I would highly recommended these picks and i'am pleased with my purchase.

Attractive and excellent picks
At first glance these abalone style picks may appear a little more basic in price and design, although very attractive indeed, but in use they produce a very warm and clear sound for acoustic guitar strumming and for individual notes and they are well made and good to use. I would recommend them highly.
