I own a Schwinn hybrid bike that comes off-the-shelf from Walmart and it has been more trouble than it is worth. The stock cable brakes gave out on me after a few months and I went flying into a bush like an Iraqi reporter's shoe. Needless to say, I am pissed at Walmart's subpart bike quality for a near-$400 bike.I wanted a budget-friendly brake caliper option that would be a significant improvement over the stock brakes, and after reading reviews on a litany of similar products, I chose these. I am not a "bike specialist" by any means, so it says something that these were relatively easy to put on for someone as novice as I am at bike repair.I have had these brakes installed now for over a month, and I can confidently say that they are solid improvements over stock brakes. The semi-hydraulic thing seemed a bit gimmicky to me, but I do think that braking consistency is significantly improved because of it. I switched out the organic brake pads that come stock with the set for some semi-metallic brake pads and the replacement process was simple.For a 160-180 centimeter set of disc brake calipers, I don't think you will find much better at this price point.

Product easy to install, took only 30mins to install front and back.And the stopping power is great. I have a emountain bike which is heavier than a regular mountain bike so these calipers work lots better than the mechanical disc brakes that were supplied.

The pads could use some replacing but as far as clamping is concerned, these calipers are freaking awesome. Or maybe mechanical calipers suck so bad that... Maybe it's kind of like eating something terrible while you're hungry. I don't know. I'm confused now.

For those doing hydraulic brake upgrades on the Lectric eBike, new 2.0 here are my findings, when installing use the frame brackets that come with the brakes, they allow more of the pad to hit the rotor then the stock, on the front wheel there is a clearance issue between the back of the caliper and spokes, if installing lit all the instructions tell you the spokes will it, after centering I had to move the caliper to clear, haven’t ridden it as of yet to see if it runs under flex, the rear brake has its challenges as well, the factory bracket places the caliper to high and only about 3/4 of the brake pad hitting the rotor, using the supplied bracket it gets to about 7/8 of the pad, I had to machine the bracket about 0.250 and now get all of the pad usage, on issues with the spokes in the rear wheel, will update when I get a chance to ride it, brakes do feel nice and solid. Made an enormous difference to upgrade from mechanical calipers. Very easy to install and adjust.

Rear brake started leaking after a few rides. I would suggest dual piston manual brakes

The mechanical disk brakes on my bike are awful these are no better. I just ordered the full hydraulic ones now. I hope I’m not a glutton for punishment we will see. I’ve bought hundreds of things on Amazon this is my first review ever that’s how strongly I want to warn you not to waste your money.

I have a set on my other bike and have found them to be a very good and reliable product. I would recommend them for sure.

Used to replace Canadian tire MTB unbranded disk brakes.Did not actually have a stopping power issue with those, but they used to squeak like crazy. Some times brake slightly and people walking will notice me approaching without the need the use the bell 😬After getting and installing those semi hyperbolic breaks, braking is quiet and smooth, and i like how breaking power is constant. It just feels much better.One issue with front break unit, after releasing break, it doesn’t retract instantly, it takes few seconds to slowly release. Weird but kept it anyway as it doesn’t affect that much.
