When my son receives a new Dog Man book in the mail I always get a little excited. Dan Pilkey tends to add a spiritual/literary dimension to his stories that kids might not fully grasp but that still influences them for the better.Grime and Punishment doesn’t disappoint. It’s largely the story that hurt, hate and resentment about the past tend to imprison the victim not the perpetrator. Instead of being able to create your own narrative you’re trapped in another, malicious person’s story.Of course, something similar is realized by Raskolnikov in Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment. Only forgiveness and a loving response allow us to move on and live freely.It may not be the most original message, but this is a book for young children who are hearing these ideas for the first time. Pilkey shows real artistry in crafting such themes around silly stories.You will find yourself enjoying the story while reading to or alongside your kids. Highly recommended to parents of young children.

I have to admit that I haven’t read all of the books in this series. My son loves them and so we ordered the new one right away. He read it cover to cover but got really quiet at the end. He said the ending was sad and he wanted me to read it so we could talk about it. I loved so many aspects of this book but the ending is quite emotional and may be hard for some kids to digest. The theme is love beats out hate which is amazing, maybe just pre-read it if you have a sensitive kiddo.

Received this book today and my daughter already finished it!!! Very good addition to the awesome Dog Man series! Very excited for the 10th book to come out!!!

Grime and Punishment kept my daughter interested and engaged from cover to cover! She finished the entire book in a matter of less than two hours, without stopping once!The Dogman books have done so many good things for my child who HATED reading! Number one, she’d rather read than watch TV or play video games! Number two, she has started wanting to read the classic works that the Dogman books are based off of. We just finished Call of the Wild, which Brawl of the Wild is based on. And third, she is using very difficult and advanced vocabulary words that she learned from the Dogman books! For children who otherwise don’t like reading, I cannot recommend the Dogman series enough!

Honestly I didn’t like my child reading the first couple Dogman books. I found them over the top inappropriate, I even returned the 1st. However, the books have become progressively more appropriate and include more moral/life lessons. It’s Dogman, so there’s always going to the potty humor or language that makes kids laugh, but I appreciate that Dav, whether or not this was intentional, has toned it down. Very original and creative books with unique storyline and character - and this newest book lived up to my child’s (and my) expectations!

Received on the 1st and my son was very shocked. He immediately wanted to begin reading it but it was already past his bed time. WFH and virtual schooling has been difficult. When it comes to Dogman I don’t have to fight with him and reading. I just wish there were more to buy after this one but we will have to wait.

My daughter is such a big fan of the Dog Man books. She has a reading disability and isn't a big fan of reading. But when she saw these at school, it was a game changer! After I found out the Author had a disability aslo, she felt a strong connection with the books even more! She started to try and draw comics now and can read one of these books, in one day! She has waited so long for this book! This review is late but we purchased the book for the release date. I'm so glad it came out on time even with Covid being a factor. 💁‍♀️Praying he writes more of these books !!!!

The media could not be loaded.  This is a Christmas present for my grandson, he loves the author, pity he has to wait another 4 months to read it.Nice hard back book, with comic strip type stories.I don’t mind that it’s in comic book format, just as long as he’s enjoying reading.

Our daughter loves Dog Man, so much she's actually read and re-read the other books (shes 6) and I pre-ordered this one. Which is currently being read.

really nice book love it so heart warming and funny 110% kid suitable :> its a pity that you had to wait a ouple months for it :/. but it was worth the wait :D!!

The last in the Dog Man series! My son was in equal parts ectactic and sad when this book arrived. He devoured it in a matter of an hour if that and has reread it three times since it arrived 3 days ago. If you're a fan of the series this is obviously a must have.

A page turner - my kids couldn’t stop reading and laughing out loud xAmazing yet again, just waiting for the next one
