Cute, nice edition to Strange Weather in Tokyo, wish there was more!
This is a cute snack of a read. Valuable for its charm and also the author’s own notes at the end of the book explaining how, even as an author, characters remain mysteries. How the unexplored or unwritten about aspects of a novel’s characters still fascinate the people who created them. I love that the author just needed to bring back the characters from Strange Weather in tokyo for another tale.It is short, but it’s cute with little (color) drawings which I also found charming.

Love is in the details
This short story could be another chapter in "Strange Weather in Tokyo". The same personae - Tsukiko and her Sensei; the same ambiance - a meticulously prepared meal; the same undercurrent - between friendship and sexual tension. And again the author uses Sensei, and the mysterious Tengo, to flesh out Tsukiko's insights into herself. By telling Sensei a story from "long ago" she gets a glimpse of what she was as a child and what she is as an adult. I particularly liked the dichotomy of her feelings when Sensei took hold of her hand, both wanting it and resenting at the same time. And, as usual in Japanese prose, the love of details that define the details of love. Delicious

fascinating story about folktales and childhood memories
Realized that this was a short story that accompanies the Strange Weather in Tokyo. Although its a fun read, it would be great if Amazon made it clear that this story was part of Strange Weather in Tokyo book

A nice little bonus novella to read after “Strange Weather in Tokyo”
A cute little story. Perhaps a little pricy for how short it is.It is meant as a side story to “Strange Weather in Tokyo”, so you should probably read that one first. The afterword also contains spoilers for “Strange Weather in Tokyo”.

Too short to justify the price
Very short. Interesting read, but not sure it should have been published as a standalone novella.
