Clever Design, Shoddy Execution
This is my third pair of holiday gnomes this month. The two Thanksgiving-themed sets are about the same size with the same level of detail as these gnomes. I am pleased to say that they looked exactly like the display photos. I wish I could say the same about this set. The design is every bit as clever, but the execution is shoddy: far more attention to detail was paid to the creation of the pair used to create the display photos. Here's how these gnomes fall short:First…the packaging. The gnomes together measure 13" tall, 11.5" wide and 3" deep. They arrived in a box that is 6.25" tall, 6.75" wide and 3.5" deep. Obviously, the gnomes arrived smashed which created problems, particularly because much of the material used is flimsy craft felt. The thing about craft felt is that it creases and wrinkles easily if cramped, bent or folded, and it is time consuming undo the damage (a lot of dampening and pressing required). In one case (the male's candy cane) the felt is thicker so the bends are permanent and the cane crooked in two places. As for the bands on both crowns, the points won’t stand up without some glue or hand stitching, after having been bent down so long. And on that issue of the hat band, the boy's hat band was sloppily aligned. The green felt of the hat is visible below the band for half of the hat along the face. The legs are also problematic. My photos show the material was not cut so that the stripes on the legs match or at least come close to lining up like they do in the display photos. Also obvious is that the legs aren't evenly stuffed. One leg on each is stuffed almost to the top while the other leg has no stuffing. What isn't so obvious is that one leg is longer than the other on both dolls and that three legs (both of the male's and one of the girl's), were not lined up correctly when attached to the bodies, which means those legs are turned to the left and require slight twisting when placing the gnomes for the feet to stay straight up. And on the issue of things not being correctly aligned, one of the girl's ears is about half a turn off...thus, one ear goes straight up and the other goes straight out. There is also the green heart on the girl's dress that is crooked. The shoes have two problems. The top borders aren't evenly or fully glued down on one of each's shoes. As for the shoes themselves, the pair don’t match on either doll. (See photos that show the curves on the tops are quite different, making one bell/tip noticeably higher than the other.)Lest you think that my expectations are too high, let me point out that those Thanksgiving gnomes were well executed and well matched to the display photos...and less expensive ($10 for one set and $12 for the other). They also arrived in loose plastic bags that avoided compression.I’ll keep these elves since I like the design, but only because I'm handy with craft glue and hand-stitching which will allow me to fix some of these problems. On that basis, I would likely award three stars, but customers shouldn’t have to make fixes, even if they have the skills and materials. Bottom line: These clever designs deserve higher standards, better execution and more roomy packaging so that the dolls are truly worthy of the asking price.

Simply Adorable
I had ordered a previous product from this company and spotted these elf gnomes in their catalog. They are simply adorable. I look forward to putting them out again for future holiday seasons.

They looked cute online.
To me, these just don't look as cute in person as they did online. Their dresses and legs are very wrinkled. Both left ears are larger than their right ears, and only one out of four ears are glued down properly. The boy's candy cane was folded in half and can't be fixed to look nice. Their Jester Crowns were not glued down where the spikes come up and the pom poms are attached, so because of this, each spike flops down in different directions. This is another set of Christmas gnomes I have purchased from this company that is being returned. I am looking elsewhere. I do not recommend this item.
