The Emotional Power of Music: Multidisciplinary perspectives on musical arousal, expression, and social control
M**D
High And Dry - for classic fans only
Perhaps I was expecting something else : this is a dry and detailed academic text that clings to the classical music genre in a way that is perhaps fit and appropriate for textbooks, for studies, and for exams, but it is a somewhat limited text : there is little - none in fact - discussion of modern rock music, electronica, even film scores, in the way that they exist and operate to affect emotion and evoke a feeling in the listener. I was hoping to understand the how and why of music, why some music works and why other do not, but this is not a text for a modern listener, but a classical musician.
