Wow, I suppose if you are city folk and have never had anything to do with gardening or livestock...ever!! This title is very Misleading, I was hoping to gleen some useful information here, possibly something I hadn't already thought of since the Author calls this book an "Encyclopedia"?!Couldn't be further from the truth, very disappointed, money down the drain! ☹️

More of a read vs how to

I purchased this book for my son as a gift since he’s very interested in homesteading one day. I was disappointed in the size immediately as it’s a small paperback book and barely over 140 pages in length. The title “Encyclopedia” made me laugh out loud when I flipped through the pages. I began to read it before I even gave it to my son. The author never explains who she is or how long she has been homesteading. The book is geared to be a beginners guide to all things homesteading. I found very little useful information in it, unfortunately. To say she covered a subject would be too generous. She more or less barely touches on each topic included with a paragraph. For example, she touches on the myths of homesteading, legality, various states that are popular to homestead in and why, permits, land options, budgeting….things like that. I suppose I expected chapters with details on how to raise livestock, canning, baking bread, water resources, etc. Practical topics that I could glean useful information from. I would not recommend this book to anyone truly interested in homesteading. It could perhaps help a city dweller to begin to think outside the box. That’s the best I can say about it.

This book gives a general overview of options when it comes to the homesteading lifestyle, since everyone has different options on this topic. If you're just starting to think about the idea of homesteading, then this is the book for you. If you're well established in your homestead, not for you as it covers the basics.
