Great product.
Second set I've purchased. Use them on my poles and all my kayak gear. Always stay tight. I'll order again when I need more.

stay securely closed.
I have one of the around my fishing pole right behind the arm of my reel. It has stayed in place for many months now in Florida sun and salt water. Kayak fishing so I have a coiled tether in case pole goes overboard, as I learned does happen, which prompter me to buy these. I also attach my hook to this when transporting. I would recommend these.

Buy these before you need them.
I've now fitted these on most of my boat rods. Why? You ask. Good question. Well, I was trolling for Mahi when BAM! Nice hookup. We were reeling in the other rods to clear room to fight the fish when he jumped... huge (at least 4 feet long), beautiful fish. He jumped so high however that he pulled my rod and reel out of the gunwale and into the ocean never to be seen again. A double tragedy because not only did I lose a very decent trolling set up, but I doubt the fish would have survived.. I hate wantonly killing a beautiful fish like that for no purpose... and yes 5 or 6 hundred bucks worth of fishing equipment hurts too! Since then I've fitted these to the rods that I troll with (even some with harness lugs) and I attach them to a tether when trolling or when I hand the rod to children fighting bigger fish. Here's what I like about these in particular. First, you can't beat the price. However, I was skeptical that the velcro would hold on these, but it seems remarkably durable. I'm not chucking a rod in the ocean to find out just how durable, but I couldn't get it undone just pulling on the D-ring with what I consider to be quite a reasonable amount force.... Meaning it isn't coming off unless you take it off.I've also uncovered lots of other uses for this as well. They are an excellent (consistent) place to attach your hooks while transporting your rods... It won't dammage your guides and it avoids accidental finger hooks. I've also found them to be a great place to tighten terminal tackle and check knots. Put the hook on the ring and synch your knot tight and it saves the effort of reaching for another tool. Perhaps most importantly, if you're fighting a big fish with a spinning rod (AJ's, Tunas, etc..) it gives you a place to hook on the rod to attach a harness to. If you've ever hooked mulitple big jacks in a single day, you understand why that might be important. Finally, if you like to pre rig carolina rigs on spinning rods, the velcro gives you a very convenient place to store your long leader since you don't want a weight stashed near the rod tip bouncing around a moving boat at high speeds, and you don't want a leader with a hook on it lying around all over the place. In other words, these are convenient, cheap, unobtrusive and have a ton of uses... For me they make a lot of sense. If it fails in a spectacular fashion I'll be sure to update my review, but so far, so good!
