Tuffy189-01 License Plate Holder

If you have a new Smitty Built WRC winch, THIS ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT FIT! I bought the Smittybilt 97495 XRC Winch - 9500 lb. Last week, then ordered this based on another review that said it fit. It does NOT! I gave it 4 stars due to the fact that it is a decent made item that does what it says. Thankfully Im a pretty good welder, so I made this work. As it comes, the holes are 3/4 of an inch wider than the smittybuilt fairlead pins. The only way to make this fit is to cut the tabs off, weld new tabs, and drill new holes.

I have a Smittybuilt XRC winch which has 8.25" roller hole spacing (center to center). This plate holder does not fit for my application. The holes on the bracket are too wide. I don't know why something as important as the mounting hole distance isn't specified by this seller. Here's the information that I took from the Tuffy website:Part #189: Works with standard fairleads with pin dia .615" (Aprox 5/8”) spaced 8.776" (Aprox 8 3/4”) apart.Returned item for refund

This worked perfect. I mounted this to a Hawse fairlead using a Smittybilt 2814 Light Mount Bracket for Aluminum Hawse Fairlead. Allows me to use my synthetic winch (Quadratec) with this product. Nearly a perfect fit. It even came with the hardware to mount the plate to the holder. I felt that the bolts were a little long, so I installed them backwards (nut facing forward). This is designed to use the bolts on the rollers so if you mount it to a Hawse , you will have to supply your own bolts. The holes didn't line up perfectly (off 1/4" or so) but with the size bolts I used, it didn't matter anyway. No modifications needed!

Nice product, simple install. Installed one on my Warn M8000 with a Daystar Winch Isolator, no issues they work great together.The only reason this is getting 4 stars vs 5 is the bolts that it came with to attach the license plate were too long. This prevented it from flipping up properly but its a simple fix, cut the bolts down so they are just longer then the nut.

Item is designed and built well. However, I have a Smittybilt roller fairlead which I would be is pretty common, but this doesn't fit. The mounting holes don't line up with the vertical roller posts. Additionally, after looking closely at the amount of play in the roller and the c-clip that holds it in, I don't there is enough room to support the additional thickness of the bracket when mounted. So, doesn't work on smittybilt, but may work on a different roller fairlead.
