Easy Testing, Fast & Accurate Results
I ordered this test to check my hormones to make sure my ovaries were still functioning following a hysterectomy last year. I had my hormones tested twice last year, and both times they were within normal ranges but there was a significant drop in my estradiol with my second test. That was 6 months ago, and something came up on a routine exam this year that made me want to re-check my levels. My doctor was being a pain about it, so I decided I'd test independently in hopes that everything was OK, and if not it would give me the fuel to push things with her if needed.First, I ordered ovulation test strips that detect ovulation via urine. I tested myself every morning for 2 months straight to confirm my ovulation cycle. Bzsed on my pre-surgery cycle length, once I identified my ovulation in month 1 I was able to accurately predict month 2's ovulation within 1 day. Also during this time, I used several menopause test strips throughout my cycle to confirm I did not have higher than normal FSH levels. Based on all these urine tests, I felt I was definitely ovulating and not in full menopause, but I still had concerns that my ovaries may not be producing enough estradiol (like perhaps they were functioning but not super well).Next, I ordered this kit and continued my daily ovulation pee tests with the plan to do the blood test when I ovulate since I can confirm when that is whereas I cannot confirm when day 3 of my cycle is due to the hysterectomy. Also, it would give me the opportunity to see what is the peak level of estradiol my ovaries are creating. Thursday morning I ovulated, a day earlier than I predicted. I scrambled to register my test kit, schedule a UPS pickup, and do the test. Based on other reviews, I was a little worried about getting enough blood. I did one of those blood type tests a couple of years ago and it didn't go well. But after I registered the kit, my phone walked me through step by step instructions that were super clear. The instructions suggested washing hands with warm water, and I think that really helped. One prick and I got enough blood easily. It wasn't much needed really at all. Got it all sealed up, a couple hours later UPS picked it up, and the next morning (Friday) I received a text and email confirmation that the lab received my sample. Those confirmations said results would come in 3-5 days, but I got my results the next day, Saturday, mid-day. Super fast! Since I know I was ovulating and the test recommends testing on day 3 of cycle, I knew my levels should be higher than what the test would think is the normal range, so I wasn't surprised when I logged in and saw that they were "abnormal." I have records of my 2 previous estradiol, LH, and FSH blood test results and compared these results to those prior results as well as to normal follicular, mid-cycle, and luteal ranges. Based on the fact I was ovulating the day of my test, and compared to my past results and research, I feel very confident in these results' accuracy. I'm super grateful I was able to do this myself instead of dealing with my less than helpful doctor.I would certainly use this company's services again in the future as well. Such an easy process!

Requires lots of blood
It takes an amazing amount of blood. I never could get enough to fill the vial despite mutilating the ends of all my fingers.

You will need a lot of blood to fill vial from finger prick
That it required too much blood from a finger prick

Hard to get enough blood and they sent my sample to the wrong lab!
Seemed easy to do but I had trouble getting enough blood to fill the vials. I found it almost impossible and it took hours and I only had a few drops. You are suppose to fill up the whole tube but my fingers only had tiny drops. It was impossible. I ended up using a lancet to hit a vein in my arm. It was bloody but it filled up fast. You have to schedule ups pickup or drop it off the same day you take the sample. After ALL that hassle, they said they sent my sample to the wrong lab on "accident"!!! I had to call them and was put on hold for a half hour and they finally agreed to send out another kit but after the trouble getting blood I don't think I even want to try again.

Not the best customer service
This is the 2nd blood test I've done through this company. They're thorough with quick, accurate results. But their customer service is lacking!I had no trouble with my first test (a1c) but this time UPS did t pick up per the schedule. I was left wondering what to do with my almost day old blood. The website says they have 24/7 customer service. Nope. At 7pm the phone lines were closed. At 8:30am the next morning, also closed. I emailed and got a response about 10 hours later. How is that 24/7 customer service?? The reply to my email was canned. It was zero help. So I called again at 9am. The website doesn't have hours on it, it claims they have 24/7 customer support and 3am-12am (EST) nursing support... I got thru at 9am and was promptly hung up on. I got thru again, and this time someone was finally helpful. They explained that the blood is good for 4-5 days and it wasn't too late for me to get it to UPS myself since UPS didn't show up the day they were suppose to. Why couldn't that information be on the website? Or email? I was worried a $100 test was down the drain.Another problem with their customer service is that the directions included in this test are EXACTLY the same as the a1c test I took from them. There is NOTHING in the box that tells you to do this on the 3rd day of your cycle (AKA 2 days after your cycle starts). You also have to collect blood before 10am. The instructions in the box do tell you that you need to activate your test before you collect blood and the online instructions do tell (clearly) to collect blood before 10am on the 3rd day of your cycle. Not all women know what that day is, some of us assume that our cycles start after a period but the first day of your cycle is the first day of your period.I also wish that the website activation would give you a link to the UPS pick up schedule. You have to schedule a pick up (the next day air label is already prepaid and included in the box). It would be very easy for them to link to UPS at the end of activation. But they don't bother to. You have to go back to the paper directions to find the website address, type it in, and schedule the pick up. Another benefit to them linking to UPS might be that they could confirm you scheduled a pick up.Another issue I have is that they will only allow you to collect blood on a Mon-Thursday. Because they need 1-2 days to process your blood, and not longer. What happens if the 3rd day of your cycle falls on a Fri, Sat or Sunday?? Nothing in the online or paper directions explain that. So I would normally assume you just have to wait another month to test. But then the guy I talked to on the phone said blood is good for 4-5 days... so who knows. Thankfully my cycle started on a Sunday and I was able to test the first month I got this. I didn't ask customer service about what would happen if my 3rd day was a Saturday, because they already weren't overly helpful with what I really needed to know. For the test itself, they provide a collection tube and 4 lances. There's two alcohol wipes and some bandaids. The a1c test I did with this company had a smaller blood collection area that I was easily able to fill with just one finger stick. This tube is larger. I needed 2 finger sticks and I thought I was going to have to do 3. But I made it by "milking" my finger carefully.I've never had a female hormone test done before, so I can't really speak to the accuracy of my results. But I can say that with the A1C, I had the same test done by a doctor 2 weeks later and my results were only 0.1 difference between the two. I'm sure that's normal lab differences. So I trust this test as being accurate.
