A beautiful rememberanceof a famous writer by his son
I read this book the same day I bought it from the seller Bookraja. I was a bit disappointed with the irresponsible attitude of the courier agency, DTDC who refused to deliver it at my residence, inspite of the seller charging me Rs 100 as delivery charges. When I lodged a complaint to the seller, he readily refunded me the delivery fee and apologized for the lapses on the part of the courier. I appreciate the seller and hope he will use a much responsible courier in future and also reduce the rather high delivery fee of Rs 100.Coming to the Book, a highly readable and enjoyable book by Rodrigo Garcia, son of late writer and Nobel laureate, Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Garcia Marquez is a highly rated writer and Engish readers need no introduction to him. His books are among modern classics in world literature. The book captivated me with its intimate portrayal of Garcia Marquez and his wife Mercedes Barcha by her son.His last days at his home in Mexico City, with dementia almost having destroyed all his past memories, are very touchingly written by his son. Even in his last days, Garcia Marquez's sense of humour was remarkably fresh and captivating. His only regret was that he would not be able to write about his own death. The author's own words describes it better " My father complained that one of the things he hated most about death was that it would be the only aspect of his life he would not be able to write " Quite fitting description of the prolific writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
