Outstanding product. I liked it so much we purchased a second one. Durable, functional, practical, and easy to install. With one pole I have used screws into the floor to help stabilize it on the carpet. Although it may not have been necessary to do so, I wanted to be extra safe. It is located in the bedroom. The other pole is standing on a tile floor in the bathroom and it is not screwed into anything, just mounted with the provided pressure mounting nut located in the center of the pole. I highly recommend this product! Update: Saturday, May 20th, 2017 Having had two of these poles for about a year now, they are still outstanding for almost anyone who is in a wheelchair and needs to transfer to a bed, toilet, couch, or the like. However, one of the poles had a problem when the small knob that you pull out to change the position of the pole handles stopped working. The knob is supposed to pull out, allowing the user to move the pole handles around easily, then when you let go of the knob, it locks the handles in place. When the knob broke and stopped locking, I was pretty upset. The pole is pretty much unusable without the knob locking. Anyway, after reading advice from another reviewer who had a similar problem, I found that it was easily fixed. Just screw the knob back in to get the pole handles to lock again. Note that you may have to turn the outer plastic knob part many times (to the right) and jiggle the grab bar part back and forth a bit before the knob works correctly again. But stick with it. This method should fix the problem. July 9th, 2021 update: A family member has used these poles to transfer from wheelchair to bed and toilet for years. Other than on rare occasion having to screw the plastic latch knob back in (takes about 30 seconds), no problems at all, and a real life and back saver! January 14th, 2025 update: My 93 year-old mother had a bad fall a few months ago. During her recovery, I bought her one of these poles to install beside the chair she sits in to watch TV. She really likes it!Other people in the senior apartment building in which she lives have come by to see her and commented on it. She is happy to tell them all how much it helps her out. She uses it to steady herself when she gets out of her chair. Did not install any screws for the pole at all. Just used the pressure mount nut included with the pole and it installed easily on her vinyl flooring and is rock solid.

I bought this to help me for when the hip decides to not work and I have had this pole for over a year now. Absolutely LOVE IT!!! It was very easy to install, very strong and has literally saved me on multiple occasions. If you have any issues with balance and support to stay upright on your own, you must get one of these poles. They are fabulous to grab and will hold you up till you get your footing. The movable handle option is a real plus. I cannot say enough of how much I love mine and I will be putting these poles in the places that I struggle the most with a fractured hip. Best purchase I have made was buying this pole. Update: 4 years now, using this support pole and it is still just as fabulous as the first day. Has been a lifesaver many times after getting my hip replaced, which was the reason I bought it, to help combat a bad and failing hip before surgery. Best purchase ever, still. 10 stars!!

To clear up any confusion this bar is secured by tension. You do NOT have to use the included screws if you don't want to. The clevis pins DO need to be used. The only tool needed is included. I have installed two of these by myself but an extra pair of adult or teen hands would have made things go a bit faster. The instructions are clear but the diagrams are the most help. I do wish the instructions came with larger print and that the diagram was bigger. This is my second purchase of one of these poles. I have had the first for almost three years and it has worked flawlessly. I have not had to adjust the nut in the middle at all. I check it weekly to make sure there is no slippage. The first pole I purchased is being used in a bedroom to help a senior get in and out of the bed on their own. They were hesitant at first not believing that the pole would hold without being drilled into the floor or ceiling. After I pulled and shook the pole as hard as I could they gave it a try and have loved it ever since. They now need help getting on and off the toilet as the elevated toilet seat is no longer doing the job for them so I ordered another pole and I got it setup in an hour. I believe that the price you pay for the pole with grab bar is well worth it. I truly believe it has and will continue to prevent the senior that uses it from sustaining a fall. As long as they hold on with both hands and make sure that their wheelchair is locked. It allows them the dignity of going to the bathroom alone and of getting in and out of the bed when they want to. You do need a flat ceiling. A drop down ceiling will not work.

very heavy so it appears to be very durable. I like how easy it was to assemble and I like the color-white- which blends in with the rest of our bathroom. I also like how easy it is to move the handle around. We're hoping to get a lot of use out of this product. We imagine it will keep us safe and slip and fall free in the bathroom.

The wave pole itself is fantastic; worth every penny. This is our second one. We got them for my mom who'd had a stroke. That, in addition to a rotating transfer disk (see picture) that we bought separately, helped us transfer her from wheelchair to bed. We needed the second pole when she moved into an assisted living facility that didn't have a horizontal bar in the bathroom. The "wave" part of the pool can be rotated around the pool for positioning, and snaps securely into place. When we ordered our first pole we were concerned that it wouldn't be strong enough, since it was only held in place by tension. But you literally could hang off this pole (and three us us tried it first) and still feel safe. They're easy to install and we ordered an extension piece to lengthen it for the extra high ceilings in the house (ordered that from another retailer, not on Amazon). We've used the poles in three different living locations and they installed and were removed without problem, with no marks on ceiling or floor. Recently Mom moved into a skilled nursing facility and only one pole is being used. We donated the extra pole to another resident who'd also had a stroke, and he and his family love it. The pole has helped us considerably in taking care of my mom, especially at home. Frankly, I'm not sure she could have stayed at home for the six years after her stroke if we didn't have this item. The reason I rated it four stars is because we paid for overnight shipping yet received it three days later, which was a real hardship under the circumstances. The shipping was quite expensive and I felt they should have refunded that.

I bought two of these poles for my mother who is wheelchair bound and has trouble standing to transfer. The installation was pretty simple since she had a wooden floor and standard height ceiling. You do need a stud finder so you can secure to ceiling joists. You will have to drill holes in the floor amd ceiling. The unit itself goes together easily and feels substantial. The rotating "S" handle in the middle is what really makes this a valuable aid to standing. It locks in several predetermined positions and is easily adjusted. My mother quickly developed a transfer routine where she sets the handle one direction to pull herself up and then while standing changes the angle which allows her to turn and lower herself into her wheelchair. I waited a while to do the review to see how it worked. There have been no problems ....in fact my mother loves it. Recently she had some in home physical therapy and the therapist commented the design of the pole was one of the best she had seen in a home situation. This pole was a game changer for Mom and was easy enough to install that I could do it myself in an hour.

Since August 2018 my mother has lost her mobility and is now wheelchair bound. At 102 years old she has lost most of her upper body and leg strength and getting her up and down became very difficult and I needed some way to solve the problem. I found this transfer pole and decided it was the best way to help her but there was still no guarantee it would work. We installed the pole in the bathroom next to the toilet so she could pull herself up from the wheelchair and we could transfer her. It took some trial and error for a few days to find the best way for her to lift herself but we have it down to a science now. With it working so well I ordered another pole to put next to her lift chair. When that made a difference, I ordered a third one for next to her bed. The added plus to the pole is the fact that the "S" grab bar can be repositioned where needed and locks as a safety feature. It is very easy to install and is secure against the ceiling and floor although I tighten it from time to time as a safety precaution because mom does pull on it out of her fear of falling. There is no need for a fourth or fifth pole but if needed I would not hesitate to order again. Life at 102 years old is tough but these poles have helped tremendously and I highly recommend!

This is it! Wonderful product. I'm the caregiver and I can't say enough good things about this. It is robust. Solid. Steady. Assembly is simple(two pins and their retaining clips!) and well within the abilities of any healthy and literate individual. Maybe literacy isn't even required, as the assembly diagrams are clear and readily understood. It is very well designed, with the B-bar offering a range of gripping options for the user. It has greatly increased the ease of transfers from wheelchair to toilet and, by repositioning the angle of the handle, wheelchair to shower chair. The solidity of the product gives the user confidence that they are not at risk of a fall. I, being a cheap bast*rd on a limited budget, purchased an 'open box' used item at around half the cost of new one. All parts and papers were present. There was very mild rust stains(not the stated 'like new, packaging damaged' claim) from where the box had become damp at some point. Nothing that affects functionality and easily remedied with a scouring pad and a shot of appliance white spray paint. Still not enough praise. It's great!

Frustrating return experience with seller and Delhivery pick up partner. Money is blocked, item cannot be dropped for return and Delhivery courier doesn't come to take the product. Don't go for this purchase unless you are absolutely sure it will fit in your bathroom.

This pole is another lifesaver for my 82-year-old mom. It makes her feel so secure to use the washroom by herself. The easy-to-use turn and lock is the most useful feature to switch between using the bathtub chair and the loo. Easy to clean and smooth surface. Well-designed and well-packed for transit. It fits well in a ceiling height of 84.5”. Installation was a 2-person job (for me) to tension fit the pole and tighten it. Their video was very helpful. While it’s standing solid, I will be add fasteners as both the top and bottom plates have holes for screws. What a relief to have this installed for my mom's safety - highly recommend!

I purchased this to help me getting in and out of my walk-in bath which has a belt seat. It is superb and gives me all the help I need, with the grab bar easy to position exactly where I want it. Assembly instructions were easy to understand and follow and I had it unpacked and set up within 30 minutes of arrival. I laid it flat on the floor in my living room to assemble and then moved it to my bathroom, where I tied it to the radiator to support it , whilst adjusting the height. I am nearly 80 and only 5 feet tall! Just a word of warning, it is very heavy, so it might be safer to have a young or strong person to set it up, to avoid any mishap. It is a very sturdy, well-made product that even came with a spanner to adjust the height. The ceiling support has excellent pads to protect your decor and is very stable in position. A further advantage is that i could be moved to a different location without any damage to floor or ceiling.
