History of the Black People.
It' s so easy to read. Harper Lee merely tells us a story. Her 2 books are as important as Uncle Tom ' s Cabin in Literature about the Black People. Why didn' t she write more books ?

Sequel at the same level of the first book
Sequel of "To kill a mocking bird", it can be read independently without problem. A vivid picture of the south of the US in the 50s.

Controversial and topical
Despite what others may say, this book does not taint Atticus Finch as a racist. He is the same practical, far seeing lawyer we first knew. A man steeped in the law, the Constitution, and the politics of his country, state, and his community. His daughter Jean Louise (Scout) may be "colour blind ", but Atticus is not, and he sees clearly the racial unrest that is brewing. This is not to say that I agree with the approach taken by him and others in the book, but I believe it is a reflection of views prevalent in the South at this time. I think this book will generate a lot of controversy and discussion. My quibbles would be with the writing itself. It is in need of some serious editing and sometimes reads like a first draft. Of course, the idea of editing Harper Lee's writing would not and should not have been considered. So we take it as she wrote it. Jean Louise and her ongoing tantrums and rants get tiresome. Also, it is difficult to imagine that Ms Lee wrote this story before "Mockingbird ", although I understand this is so. It makes a better sequel than a prequel.Bottom line, I loved this story, I'm glad it came into print, and I hope it leads to lots of discussion.
