Glitterville's Handmade Halloween: A Glittered Guide for Whimsical Crafting!

I can't wait to get started!
I am old and very jaded and it usually takes something with batteries to make me squeal like a preteen at a Justin Bieber concert. But when it comes to my favorite holiday, all it takes is some glittery party hats and a few grinning pumpkins to make me pitch a major squealie.Glitterville -[...] - has been selling wonderful decorations for years now. I'm too much of a cheapskate to spring for one of their "Mr. Bones chip & dip servers" or an "Itchy Witchy stacking cake platter", so I'm thrilled to be able to make my own goodies based on their designs. Most of the projects in this book are made from easily obtainable supplies - no plastic novelty eyeballs, thank you! Styrofoam balls, Paperclay, crepe paper and chenille stems are all that's needed to create a cute, rather than creepy Halloween. (Chenille stems? I didn't know anybody used them anymore. I LOVE IT!)I'm looking forward to many happy hours crafting witch hats, spider puppets, pumpkin tiaras, and surprised jack-o-lanterns. And did I mention the trick-or-treating cupcake, 'cos I should have. She's really cool!

Over-the-Moon for Glitterville's Handmade Halloween!
This book is so adorable that I cannot put it down! I received it just a few days prior to Halloween and didn't have time to make any of the projects, but I want to make a few this winter so I'm prepared for next Halloween. This book triggered some creative idea's of my own! I love this book, and I cannot even convey my joy with words. (happy dance) This book is over-the-moon wonderful with awesome projects, photography, illustrations, and instructions. And I'm also over-the-moon with Glitterville's website. Check it out! My dream day would be to spend a creative day with Stephen Brown!!! - Awesome! Awesome! ...... What are you waiting for already? Buy this book!

picked up fun techniques like the proper way to apply glitter thoughly.
I am really glad I purchased this book because it reminds me to just "do my own thing" and use everyday materials to do it, for a one of a kind result.I loved the front section of the book that spends some time on seemingly simple techniques like how to glitter properly, how to apply glue properly, etc.Yes, we learned these things in elementary school, but he refines the techniques. The projects were sweet and most of his directions easy to follow.I would recommend this book.I guess if I had a complaint, it would be that his artistic ability far exceeds mine and it showed in his finished faces ( painting skills, )

The Best Craft Book Purchase EVER!
I just got this book in the mail today (I pre-ordered it in July) and I am so excited I can hardly contain myself. The instructions in this book put the Martha Stewart craft books to shame, it has step by step photos and text for each craft. I haven't seen the techniques Stephen Brown uses anywhere else. Not only is every craft in this book extremely unique and creative, I will be able to apply the techniques and use of materials to my own creations- making this my best craft book buy EVER!Because of the detailed instructions, I think most people will be able to do the crafts. However, these are not crafts for young children.I want another copy just for back up and I hope Glitterville and Stephen Brown come out with more books for all the other holidays. This one is simply amazing!

A whimsical Halloween haven
Stephen Brown is a costume designer for tv and film and he's also the creator of Glitterville, a line of whimsical giftware. For his first crafting how-to book, he's put together Handmade Halloween: A Glittered Guide for Whimsical Crafting. This book has enough quirky charm and a vintage Halloween feel to make even the most weary crafter crack a smile and plug in the glue gun. The audience for this is specific so if you love cutesy crafts, paper, and well, glitter, you'll love this book.

Great projects in this book
There are so many cool projects in this book that I have had to break them up into a couple each weekend starting in late August. With a little assistance, my 8-year-old is able to make some of the easier projects and we used the book to get us in the Halloween spirit last year and plan on doing the same this year.

This author has two excellent craft books
This author has two excellent craft books, this one and one themed for Christmas. He has some really excellent ideas, and the instructions are presented so that I may actually be able to complete the projects, and I think I will enjoy the work. It looks like FUN!

Cutesy is the magic word!
While this book is well laid out, with great photos and easy-to-follow directions, the end products leave something to be desired. Once you've made one project, they all start to look the same. Lots of little figures made from styrofoam and chenille sticks, covered with glitter. One or two might be fun, but I was looking for something with more variety. This book will probably go back to Amazon. Not worth the money or the hype.

Whimsical crafting for Halloween you will love
Living in Belgium, where Halloween isn't really a big thing and where a lot of people don't even know what exactly it is about, I surely hadn't heard of Glitterville or Stephen Brown before. So when I went looking online for a book to make some nice Halloween stuff myself, I saw this book and got a little excited: it looked so much fun! And guess what: it totally is.It's just a treat to anyone who likes holidays and crafting: the book is so beautifully designed and colourful. The author's enthusiasm oozes from the pages and the whimsical style is lovely. Everything is really well explained so anyone can make these 20 projects. Bonus: the materials needed for them are inexpensive and most of them you will already have or else are really easy to come by.The projects are: Cellophane Fancies, Buckets of Fun, Paper Festooning, Oh So Wicked Party Hat, Chenille Pumpkins, Halloween Candy Garland, Butterscream Frosting Ornament, Nut Cups, Pinky's Pumpkin Patch, Mushroom Man on a Stump, Wackie Willie Webber Spider Puppet, Lumber Jack, Spooky Forest Sticks and Orange Candy Apples, Party Hat Place Card Holders, Glittered Cat Silhouette Party Hat, Harvest Moon Halloween Hanger, Kooky Cupcake Picks, Pumpkin Tiara, The Bride of Franky Glitterstein, Trick or Tweet (a little raven in a nest). Some of the projects have variations included and every project starts with a rhyme - which are well written and often quite funny. The book not only made me really keen on wanting to try everything in it, but made my imagination soar to high tops thinking about customizing the projects or make my very own. What more can you ask for as a crafter? Highly recommended.

A Happy Halloween craft book.
Wonderful book full of fabulous Halloween ideas for Adults as well as children. Lots of photos showing stage by stage how to create your chosen project. My personal opinion is that a lot of the projects are quite Tim Burtonesque in look which I loved. Also you dont need a lot of expensive items to create them. All items easily bought in UK craft shops.
