Spellbinding!
Story of two extraordinary Tibetan women (Mother & daughter) who made their way out when the Chinese came occupying. Numerous others would’ve had similar stories to tell!

loved this book
My wife and I, who have been to Tibet, loved this book. It was a great insight into Tibetan Buddhism and to the sweet primitiveness of the Tibetan people. It is also softly told, fitting the subject. We wish the author had written twenty others.

A story well worth reading!
This is the gripping story of how a Tibetan family managed to flee the Chinese invasion. It was written by the grand daughter, now a Swiss citizen. What I like about it was also the sense of, however cruel and painful the whole invasion was, it was also in a way an inevitability from the point of view of the evolution of human consciousness that the Tibetan culture came out of the dark ages. The book was well written and very moving.

Beautifully written, a familys story which I will not forget
I couldn't put this book down, I am visiting Tibet in June and so am intrigued about the history, culture and what to expect now. The author sets such an honest and spiritual tone throughout the entire book and I found myself reading parts out loud to my husband as the Tibetan way of life was really bought to life! I adore this book and the powerful true story told.

Four Stars
Overall pleased with the book. The spine of the book was a bit more broken than advertised, however.
