Carbonating Stone with 1/4" Barb, 2 micron

I use this to carbonate my corny keg of seltzer, and it works amazingly.I connected it to one end of some tubing and put the other end of the tube onto the gas in dip tube in the keg. The stone rests on the bottom.I filled it with water, put it in the kegerator, turned the co2 pressure up to 35 psi (I like fizzy seltzer) and it was fully carbonated in about 3 hours, as opposed to days. Not sure how it would work for beer, but I assume it would work just as good as it did for the seltzer.

I ran a clear plastic tube from the gas inlet pipe inside the top of my 5 gallon cornelius keg to the bottom, and put this stone at the bottom end. I chill the keg down to about 40 deg. F first, then crank up the CO2 pressure to about 30 psi, and although the gas flows very slowly into the keg, it diffuses much more quickly into the liquid than with the old shaking routine. Ready to serve after just a few hours!

It is a very sturdy air stone. it work well for adding air to my wort. It producing very small bubbles to where I could almost not see them but it was working.

Product arrived quickly and exactly as described.I bought this to replace a .5 micron diffusion stone I'd been using for wort oxygenation in homebrewing.I always suspected that I was getting a poor flow rate from my .5 micron and wanted the 2 micron to allow more pure O2 to pass through the stone, quickly and easily.The result from the first fermentation after using this stone was a huge roiling fermentation start in under 6 hours...and I didn't have to worry about the stone popping off from all the back pressure (this happened often with the .5 micron).Thanks!

I ordered this product for use in home brewing. Upon receiving it, I made sure to follow the instructions for handling and sterilization. I used latex gloves to handle the piece and avoided touching the filter end. I sterilized using boiling water and attempted to aerate some water prior to adding any wort. However, using a (Tetra 77851 Whisper Air Pump, 10-Gallon), there was no air flow through the stone.The failure of the stone may be due to a low pump pressure and perhaps a more heavy duty pump is needed, but there is very little information regarding specifications. Some people have better luck with these carbonation stones, but from what I can tell, they are very hit-or-miss. Considering the high price of this stone, I'd avoid the risk and buy a standard aquarium aeration stone next time.

This might work fine with compressed gas but I wanted to connect it to a fish thank air pump. It does not work for this application.

Nice quality. I use this with a stainless PET bottle carbonating cap. The barbs don't fit 1/4" tubing. I think they're 3/8". I happened to have a straw from a sports bottle that fit. I can't tell if it speeds up carbonating water vs just shaking it, but it's nice to see all the little bubbles.
