A Psalm Of Storms And Silence

Loved this sequel. Wish this series gets some hype and love.
Other than following the two main leads , we also explore the ancient history of this magical land. These past events play a major role because our main characters lean on these events time and again to get inspirations and solutions to their current problems. The thing that stands out in this series is the unique portrayal of the main leads. The author doesn’t shy away from showing some of their weak and vulnerable moments. Love how they try to overcome their struggles and display incredible heroic skills. The ending is the best part. It is heartbreaking yet hopeful. And that epilogue (where the author has done something very unique) was absolutely refreshing.“What seems like the end is simply another beginning”It had a slower pace and all that history was unfortunately hindering my enjoyment levels. Overall it was enjoyable but may not be as compelling and intriguing as the first. Also, I hope this series gets some hype and love from fantasy lovers. I think it is very underrated.

An amazing read!!
🌼𝑊ℎ𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑝𝑎𝑡ℎ 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑐ℎ𝑜𝑜𝑠𝑒, 𝑖𝑡'𝑙𝑙 𝑏𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑖𝑡'𝑠 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑡𝑟𝑢𝑙𝑦 𝑏𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑣𝑒, 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑒𝑙𝑠𝑒 𝑤𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑠 𝑖𝑡 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑦𝑜𝑢.A psalm of storms and silence is the continuation of the beautiful fantasy world, filled with West African culture, beauty, and of course magic ✨The story continues with our protagonists 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮 and 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗴𝗲𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗸 after a devastating event. Everything we see now is on the verge of destruction. The beautiful world of Ziran was about to be destroyed following all omen happening around. It is the story of Malik and Karina's journey to know the truth about their ancestors and their backstories and the struggles they had to face to save the world. The way author Roseanne A. Brown has penned the story is just out of the world!👌❤ I loved the way she has evolved the characters both Malik and karina from being naive, innocent to more mature selves. Their selflessness, their intimacy, passion, and their supportive bond for each other was splendid! With a perfect tinge of romance, It felt so realistic! No doubt her characterization is amazing, but I was shocked as I dove deep into the story and read more about the 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗗𝗜𝗥. His character kind of became my favorite 😎(*after Karina and Malik). I really enjoyed Malik's and Idir's relationship, filled with hilarious arguments to mockery but still their moments together is one to be mentioned about. The ending to Karina and Malik's story is not like the usual traditional happy ending, rather it's optimistic. Her description of the ending in the epilogue was unique👌.Overall I enjoyed the read, I laughed, I was sad and at times I was angry too! I loved everything about the book. A 💯💯 recommendation for all the fantasy lovers and also who love enemies to lover trope!...P.S: I really want the series to be adapted to a tv show or movie! 😃.

Such glorious escapism
This second book immerses you into the magical world so viscerally that you feel like you are stood next to the characters feeling their pain, their highs and their desires. The intricate mapping of each character arc, coupled with the realistic descriptions of often flawed characters are like a breath of fresh air. This is fantasy writing at its best. It teaches you lessons without being heavy handed and preachy. I am a better person for having read it. Thank you for giving me 48hours of escape.

An excellent sequel with darker themes
This is an excellent sequel which builds on the themes and plot threads left by the first book. I'll endeavor not to spoil any plot points.Having read the first book about a year ago, I had forgotten some of the minor characters and rules of the universe. This sequel will recap many of the key points, but reading the two close by in time will make the transition easier. The foreword warns about the issues brought up in the book, but it's worth noting: this narrative goes to some very dark places. The issues of abuse cycles, manipulation, and grooming all feature prominently more so than in the first book. The book also touches on the legacy of imperialism and racism, although if you read the first book, those themes carry over. One thing that impressed me about these books is how fully fleshed out both the characters and their world feel. I was particularly engrossed with how there are (essentially) no heroes and no villains in this world. Even characters you want to like and relate to are capable of causing immense hurt to those around them, and those you want to hate can act selflessly. It is impressive how three dimensional even side characters are.Lastly, these books often have a certain cinematic aura to them. Although adapting young adult fiction into blockbuster movies seems to have gone downhill in the years since the Hunger Games, it would certainly be interesting to see this one adapted into either a pair of movies or miniseries. However, these books together are excellent art on their own, and I'd recommend them wholeheartedly.

Beyond what I thought…
I don’t know what I expected from this book…this series… but it wasn’t this. First, the author is a gifted Griot. I use that word intentionally, a storyteller and keeper of history far superior than most. I loved the heroine Karina, and struggled to like the hero Malik because I viewed him weak so many times, but had to remind myself of his journey and abuse. But their humanity made me embrace them both; and how they held a gentle space for each other after it was all said and done made me weep. Kudos to an excellent story. As for the ending, it was perfect. As only a true Griot could do.

Better than the 1st??
I laughed out loud, i was mad, i was sad, i almost cried! How is this better than the original story and i called that one my baby. The way Malik evolved was a total 180. The maturity level and selflessness from Karina. Their intimacy and passion was out of this world. And the story telling was unmatched.
