Minimal Ingredients, Easy to Follow
Compared to some of my other vegan cookbook, "The China Study" recipes has very minimum number of ingredients required to prepare; most are already found in most household pantries and/or kitchen cupboards. They are easy to find at your local health food store, and the cooking/preparation procedures for each recipe are not that tedious and laborious to follow, given the fact that you already have the right equipment. The other thing I like about the cookbook was at the "Start Your Own Journey" introduction of the primary author, Leanne Campbell, she encouragingly mentioned, "As you try them, make note of what works best for you. You may want to modify them, or you might keep them exactly as they are.", and "So as you begin this journey, invite your family to join you..." (Campbell, 33).The no-oil recipes, are to me, a bonus for those of you out there who are already suffering from cancer, and want to do a DIY natural healing, or some sort of common chronic ailments, and also for those who just want to cut down or eliminate oils (fats) in their diet for personal reasons.I highly recommend this recipe book along with its parent book "The China Study" by T. Collin Campbell, PhD to all of you who are interested in learning, trying or switching to a whole food, plant-based diet.(I will update my review to let you know of the recipes my family and I will love as we try them.)

Love the variety and versatility of these recipes!
This will definitely be my new favorite go to cookbook! I was so excited to see this book coming, as I loved The China Study and wanted a more solid idea of what to cook for a truly varied, vegan, whole foods diet. The China Study Cookbook starts with some great advice and perspective about how to approach this style of eating, and I appreciate that there is a good bit of talk about planning ahead to save time and preserve nutrients, as well as the wide variety of substitutions for items such as grains, egg substitutes, and sweeteners. The recipes are highly adaptable to personal taste and preference, and a lot of them have helpful tips for recipe pairings and modifications. The modification information is also extremely helpful for making some of my other favorite recipes healthier and vegan too! I love how they get around cooking with oil too, another thing that will help me in all my cooking from now on.There is a lot of variety among the recipes which is nice, and there are a lot of recipes for items that I didn't know how to successfully make vegan - such as french toast, pancakes, baking products, desserts, and many more. There are Asian-style, Mexican/Southwestern, and American dishes, and I haven't even looked through all of them yet so I'm sure there are others as well. Most of them are quick and easy to prepare, and since the main prep involves chopping veggies, they could be even faster if you plan ahead and want to prepare earlier in the day or even at the beginning of the week if necessary. My only issue with this book has nothing to do with the recipes themselves, or the way the book is presented and put together. I was surprised to see that this book talks a lot about using microwaves and nonstick cookware, and there is very little mention of the quality of ingredients either (beyond avoiding added sodium and oil). In the introduction it does briefly mention that nutrients are lost quickly each day after harvesting produce, especially if it isn't properly stored, but there is no emphasis on buying local and organic, or growing it yourself if at all possible. Given how deficient the majority of conventionally-grown produce is now in many nutrients, I expected more of an emphasis on choosing the most nutritious whole foods in the first place. I can ignore the suggestions to destroy or contaminate my food by microwaving it or using nonstick cookware, but it was surprising and disappointing to see that their focus is truly the food itself and doesn't extend much into avoiding toxic practices around the daily cooking and eating process. I am also a busy mother, so I get the need to make things as easy and fast as possible, but we do just fine without a microwave, and cast iron cookware becomes nonstick over time if you season it properly - plus it leaches minerals into your food instead of the toxic chemicals in regular nonstick cookware.Aside from that issue, I love this book, highly recommend it to everyone, and can't wait to try out almost every single recipe!

China Study Cookbook
Also unbedingte Kaufempfehlung.
