Item arrived in good shape for a used book. A few slight dings to corners. Does not disfigure the book or photos inside. Author does a good job of commemorating an icon who was lost too soon.

While I haven't compared this book and "Prince - Stories from the Purple Underground" word for word yet, overall (about 98%+) they appear to be the same book. Same covers, same pictures in the same order, same table of contents, same type face. Slight difference in the list of credits on the back page. I bought both to compare them after reading another comment stating that he believed these were the same. Other differences so far are the titles, publishers, and depth of color for the covers. This current book has added "1958 - 2016" to the front cover in the upper left hand corner. Epilogues are the same in both books. I'm surprised this wasn't listed as a re-release of "Prince -- Stories from the Purple Underground" because the author just changed the title and other info listed above which is why I deducted one star. Because I like Prince and his music a lot, this was not a waste. Now I have one to keep and one to share.

Let me start by saying I am a Prince Super Fan. Since there were so few photos of Prince in circulation prior to his death I'm always looking at new books and magazines about him. Because of the price I didn't expect a lot from this book, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is a great addition to my collection.

Being as big of a fan that I am of Prince I already knew a lot of the details that were mentioned in the book but to read each page in a time stamped manor and by each person made each detail fully come to life. This is one book I would tell anyone to pick up and read whether you are a fan or not because it's not just raving about his music but his drive to be better even though in our eyes as America he couldn't have gotten any better. I truly truly enjoyed this book.

I bought this as a gift for someone who was influenced as an artist by Prince’s music. It’s full of information and details that even diehard Prince fans may not know and the photos are fabulous! A great coffee table book!

The content of the book is amazing. But I literally just received this book less than 15 minutes ago and the book's cover is in horrible condition. I've gotten used books with covers better than this. I honestly believe I should get a credit or a portion refunded because the cover came looking like trash.

After purchasing 'Stories From The Purple Underground' I thought 'Chapter & Verse..' would be a continuation of sorts. Having pre-ordered it earlier this month, I received it today and unfortunately the contents are exactly the same as 'Stories From...'. At ordering stage, there was no 'look inside' option as there is now. (It would've helped, as I wouldn't be writing this right now and I wouldn't have wasted £15).There's nothing wrong with the actual contents. In fact I really enjoyed the pictures and the write ups with some fascinating insights with people he worked closely with throughout his career, I just don't need it repeated in another book.I hope Amazon remove the buy in bundle with 'Stories From...'. You need this book if you're a Prince fan, but you don't need it twice in slightly differing hardback covers.I had a lot of admiration for Mobeen Azhar, It's obvious he's a passionate fan. But if he was aware of this duplication, then shame on him.

Autor Mobeen Azhar hat für den vorliegenden nicht authorisierten Bildband mit musikalischen und gestaltenden Weggefährten von Prince gesprochen, und aus ihren Erinnerungen und chronologisch geordneten Fotos einen so lesens- wie sehenswerten Hardcover-Band zusammengestellt, der in keinem Bücherregal von Prince-Fans fehlen sollte. Die meisten Fotos zeigen Prince bei Live-Auftritten on stage, es gibt aber auch einige Promo-Bilder, Fotos von Backstagepässen und auch das Foto eines von Prince selbst gebastelten CD-Covers ist zu sehen. Jedes Foto wird durch einen Bildtext ergänzt. Der Leser erfährt, wann und wo es aufgenommen wurde, und gegebenenfalls, wer außer Prince noch auf dem Foto zu sehen ist.In den Interviews geben die Beteiligten nichts über die Privatperson Prince preis (hier müssen sich Fans wohl noch gedulden, bis 2017 das Buch von Mayte, Princes erster Ehefrau, herauskommt), sondern schildern ihn als nie schlafenden von der Musik Besessenen. Man musste sich als Begleit- oder Studiomusiker oder -techniker stets bereit halten, denn Prince konnte zu jeder Tag- und Nachtzeit anrufen. Projekte mussten immer schon am besten gestern fertig sein und auch der Streit mit seinem Plattenlabel Warner Bros bleibt nicht unerwähnt. Interessant ist, wieviele Projekte durchaus fertig produziert wurden, jedoch nie das Ohr seiner Fans erreicht haben. Gerade die Berichte über diese unveröffentlichten Alben sind neu und hochinteressant. Hinzu kommen einige Erzählungen über Princes Vault, also dem begehbaren Archiv in dem die unveröffentlichte Musik des Prinzen schlummert.Die Qualität der Fotos ist meist sehr gut, das Buch ist hübsch gestaltet (wie man ja auch beim virtuellen "Blick ins Buch" feststellen kann), die Durckqualität ist nicht zu beanstanden.Von mir gibt es die vollen fünf Sterne hierfür - und eine Kaufempfehlung für Prince-Fans.

Ich hatte das Buch bestellt, um es zu verschenken. Leider kam es mit Eselsohren an und schmutzig. Auf den Fotos kann man das erkennen. Es sieht nicht aus wie ein funkelnsnagel neues Buch, sondern eins das irgendwo herum gelegen hat oder schon benutzt wurde. Sehr schade. Ansonsten vom Inhalt her, wirkt es sehr schön und hat viele interessante Bilder von Prinz. Meine Bewertung bezieht sich daher nur auf den äußeren Zustand.

This book is made up of stories from people that have worked with him....I enjoyed it.

I absolutely loved this book. You can tell the author liked Prince as well - there are little stories set in among the photos which set some context for the photos too. Highly recommended!
