Aussie outback life
The author brings the tough and harsh outbacks in front of our eyes. The story is well paced with few characters in one house. This also makes the suspense guessable. The character Nathan could have been better shaped. It’s not clear what he values most, his farm or his family or his son. 4.5 stars

Tough Aussie book
Felt like in Australian outback. Empathized with the main protagonist. A page turner inspite of being a slow burn. Mesmerizing

It arrived a little worn out at the edges, but nothing serious. The history is pretty amazing, really enjoyed, read it in less than a week

Absolutely 'Her Best Book Yet'
A gloriously slow burner with the pace slowly but surely accelerating to a tragivc but wholly appropriate ending. I have read both of Jane Harper's earlier works and loved them. She is a superb writer, always avoids the cliched plots that have become so common in thrillers/crime novels, and 'The Lost Man' is a real tour de force. One of the few writers whose next book I will be looking out for.

Gritty drama, you feel the heat.
I felt it became a bit obvious what was going on and how the story would end, but as with other books by the Author the setting is very realistic and the characters are well formed. I enjoyed it enough to read it in a day or two in the garden, didn't change to an alternative and come back "as and when" which for me is the test of a good read.

Australian outback
The Lost Man by Jane Harper is not so much a thriller as a family story with some hidden secrets and a suspicious death in the foreground. We learn a lot here about the life in the Australian outback - the setting of the novel, and the information is really exciting. I found the book rather slow going and longish - the plot proceeds at a slow pace as we plough through the lives of the protagonists and there is not much in the way of an investigation into the suspicious death. Generally, the book corresponds with what is written in this day and age, yet it's quite traditional too - a combination which works out fine but is not faultless. Even though I haven't been overly enthusiastic, I'm giving the book five stars because after all it was a pleasurable read. I'm not sure, though, if I will want to read more from this author. The Australian theme is exciting and rewarding, but the book would have to be shorter.

profundamente atmosferico
