Designed for everyday secure shredding in the home or home office, the 6M can shred six sheets of A4 paper (70 gsm) per pass 4 x 12 mm mini-cut particles and shreds continuously for five minutes before needing a 30-minute cool down period. For shredding of confidential documents in the home, the 6M can shred an A4 sheet into over 1200 pieces, which is four times more than cross cut shredders. This paper shredder is the ideal shredder for the home environment with its Safety Lock feature, which prevents the shredder from being accidentally activated when switched to lock position. The 13 Litre bin is ideal for regular shredding. The smaller mini cut particles will mean you have to empty your bin less frequently than with traditional cross cut shredders as it can hold at least 150 sheets. With the ability to shred paper into a thousand pieces, the 6M can also shred staples, paper clips and credit cards too with its powerful cutters. All cross-cut shredders require oil for peak performance. If not oiled, a machine may experience diminished sheet capacity, intrusive noise when shredding and could ultimately stop running. To avoid these problems, we recommend you oil your shredder each time you empty your waste bin or whenever the machine is used with Fellowes Performance Oil.

Brilliant shredder and very reliable
I have owned this shredder for a couple of months now and it has never let me down. I bought the 6 sheet model and have to say I am very impressed, the shredder handles multiple sheets very well however 6 sheets at a time is a bit of a push. I would say it more than happily handles approx 4 sheets max, however, this also depends on the paper thickness being shredded. I find the shredder rarely gets "bunged up" due to the adequate over-run after each shred keeping the blades free from paper. It is a perfect size for tucking under an office desk due to its relatively compact size. Its also considerably quieter than most other shredders I have used in the past. As with any shredder I just wish the paper bin was a tad bigger :) all in all a fantastic shredder that has never let me down so far!

Fellowes Powershred 6C Personal 6 Sheet Cross Cut Paper Shredder for Home Use with Safety Lock
This compact and sturdy shredder is ideal for occasional or light home use shredding only. If you have a lot of shredding or intend to use this shredder for your home office then it is definitely too small. It is very easy to use and doesn't make too loud noise while shredding. It has a small window to show you when the bin is full and there is safety lock which is very useful if you have small children. However, you need to lift the cover up in order to empty the bin and the cover is a touch heavy for such a small machine but it is a manageable weight. It does shred A4 size papers, staples and credit card as stated but I haven't try paper clips yet so I can’t comment on that. I stressed on A4 size because any papers wider than that you would need to tear them in half in order to feed in to the opening.I tried to shred up to 8 pieces of papers at a time without any problem. However, I must stress that the 8 piece of papers I shredded was the same thickness as the computer printer papers. I would definitely reduce the amount for thicker papers so not to jam up the machine. I would not recommend shredding cardboard papers. As the shredder is very small and so the bin gets filled up very quickly. I managed to by pass this problem by pressing the shredded paper down inside the bin whenever they reached the half way point of the viewing window.I read from a few reviews that it could get messy when emptying the bin so I put a 15 litres pedal bin liner inside the bin and that worked wonder. I had lifted 2 full bin liners from the shredder and there weren’t any mess on the floor!!

not usable - returning unit
having to pass individual pages takes for ever. if you put through 2 or more it over-heats and shuts off. regardless of how many pages you place through at a time, design fault seems to be that the unit over-heats due to the grinder unit collecting and bulking up and then slowing the unit down which then leads to overheating.returning it as not usable.

It doesn't do 6 sheets at a time!
I don't know who writes these reviews but the 1 star ones are more the truth! This shredder is definitely a minor home use shredder. It really is only happy with 2 or 3 sheets at a time and only for about 100 sheets at any one sitting. It does clog quite quickly so keep an eye out for that and turn off and hand clear. So in summary if you only shred about 50 sheets at a time at most then this is OK otherwise you'll need a more powerful machine

Not fit for purpose
Shredded 4 lots of 5 papers and switched off to prepare more and it had cut itself off even though the light was at green and not red so not overheating. It worked about 5mins later so shredded a few more and did the same thing so it never got to it’s 3min cut off point. I’m still waiting to do more.Frankly it’s not fit for purpose if you can only shred 20 sheets of paper every 30 mins, I don’t have that time to waste. It will be returned as not fit for purpose. And yes as previously said the bin is a bit insubstantial but if it worked that isn’t a problem. It’s only plus is that it is quite quiet. It actually never worked again so it must be faulty but the 3 min use time doesn’t make it very user friendly
