As Good As It Gets
I was privileged to see David Nail perform at the CMA Fest this year, and thoroughly enjoyed his music. Mr. Nail has a unique, fresh sound--unlike a lot of the formula music you hear today. To me, this is his best music--so far.If you listen to country radio, you've heard "Whatever She's Got." David sells it. You know the feeling, the desire. You can kind of describe it--but you can't quite pin point it. One look and you know you want it. Nice hook, feel-good tune."Kiss You Tonight" is also getting a lot of airplay. David's soulful singing, guitar work and harmonies combine for a great tune."Broke My Heart" should be a single. It has tremendous crossover potential with a big hook and again great vocals, harmonies and guitar work. When David sang this in Nashville, the sound was so very different from everything else I heard. I had to get the album. If you get the chance to see David Nail live, do it. It's as good as it gets. In the meantime, purchase this album. Country fans won't be disappointed.

but I do love a variety of music
This CD does not have a weak song. I am not a hard core country fan, but I do love a variety of music. I saw David Nail and his band as a warm up to Lady Antebellum recently. The crowd pretty much ignored DN, instead spent time getting their alcohol and food, and socializing. I was listening, and just loved how tight the band played, and how strong of a singer he was, showing his ability to belt out the strong sound, as well as sing softly where needed. After the concert, I really felt DN's music was better and stronger than LA's. So I bought this CD and have listened to it many, many times. I strongly recommend not only the CD, but seeing David Nail live in concert. You will not be disappointed. If he follows up this CD with another strong CD, he may be a big headliner soon.

excellent!
I'm a big David Nail fan. I have all of his albums and I've seen him live. This is an excellent album. If you like his others you'll like this. He's got a great voice and his music isn't overly country. Lots of feeling and sincerity. The more I listen the better it gets. I might upgrade to a five after a few more listens. Not thrilled about the Glenn Campbell cover tune. If you want to check out the best tunes listen to " whatever she's got, " "burnin' bed, " " broke my heart, " and " kiss you tonight." BTW I've seen him interviewed and he seems like a really good, regular guy. I like that, too.

his star continues to brighten
Another newer country star that holds on to the roots of true country music. One listen to this album and you'll be a believer in David Nail's music. "The Secret" is a lovely ballad that really shows David's soul. He takes on a legend's hit in Glen Campbell's "Galveston" and manages to pull if off by making it his own. A real talent and one that I hope puts out a lot of music for years to come.

Fantastic Voice!
Kinda stumbled onto this guy. Heard a song, really liked the voice and looked him up. Turns out I really like everything this guy sings. Honestly, I don't know why this guy isn't a household name. Listen. You won't be disappointed!

FIVE STARS
I have been anxiously awaiting this release, and it does not disappoint. His passion and country roots are captured in each of the 11 tracks. I listened to the album several times, each time, falling in love with another song. The first release "Whatever She's Got" is a feel good song, hooks you quick. "Kiss You Tonight", "Broke My Heart", and "The Secret" are my favorites. There is not a song I would skip over. "Galveston" featuring Lee Ann Womack was beautifully done. "When They're Gone" featuring Little Big Town was perfection, the harmony, simply fantastic.Truly an amazing album.

Another great album
This really is the follow-up to David's debut album 'I'm about to come alive' from 2009. I still rate that album as one of my favourite albums of all time, but it was followed by 'The sound of a million dreams', an album that had record company tampering written all over it. David is back to singing great melancholy songs (I don't know why this album was promoted as being more 'happy' in America, it's not).He has an amazing voice, similar to Jackson Browne, and he sings with painful emotion best used on songs of loss or yearning for something out of reach. The sound is very early 1970's country rock and would easily be popular to an UK audience. The album starts with the U.S No.1 Platinum song 'Whatever she's got', a nice enough song but certainly not an album highlight. More stronger songs are: 'Kiss you tonight', 'Brand new day' and 'The secret' all which show off his deep emotional connection with complex songs, which like all good songs are a mixture of happy & sad.The only track that doesn't quite work is 'Galveston' with Lee Ann Womack, it sounds out of place. David sings it well and it suits him, but is it a duet or is Lee Ann acting like a pushy backing singer? The song is not duet material and it just stops after a lengthy instrumental. A much better choice of final track would have been the inclusion of his version of Adele's 'Someone like you', it was brilliant and is difficult to obtain in the UK.

Absolutely brilliant
I had never heard of David Nail until finding him by accident on You Tube. I'm also not a great country fan, but this guy could change all of that. His voice is beautiful, and the way that he can run up and down the scales is magic. Add to that some of the best written and meaningful songs that I have heard and you have a great album. If you are not sure just check out "I'm about to come alive" on You Tube. If you like that then you will love this album, although I probably prefer the "I'm about to come alive" album which I would start with and which deserves 5 stars plus.

Excellent album
Really good set of tracks, not one I dislike and I actual think the version of Galveston is an excellent version and for me reiterates the fantastic influence that Glen Campbells music (and his writers) has had on the Country music journey. Great new Country music from David Nail.

Brilliant!
David Nail is so talented and has such an amazing voice. He is so underrated though and I can't understand why. He has such a variety of music and styles
