My Black Rose

Powerful book. Powerful words that evoke powerful emotions.
Technically the book is a small and quick read but it is one of the heaviest books I have ever read for such a small book. Nothing said and shown in the book is easy. No, I am not talking about the language or the narration. I am talking about the topics and the things being said in the book. It is so heavy and powerful that it jostles you and makes you sit up and notice. I had such a tough time getting rid of the book hangover because it opens up a lot of topics that are heavy and makes you wonder and question everything you feel, you know. That is why I feel the book is a powerful narration of a very hard and equally important topic. The relevance of My Black Rose and the topic it tackles is huge, especially in our modern world. The book is a collection of powerful poetic take on the human mind and its struggles. The book basically, through its poetic liberty brings forward some important observations and topics that make us question whether what we know about mental struggle is apt and as to whether we know about it in its whole truth. That is why I feel that the book is so heavy and at the same time powerful.Poetry is the toughest craft to pull because in so few words you have to pull the greatest narration. Debalina has pulled the greatest magic in that sense since the words hit you where it hurts. The book has some amazing lines that carry layers of meaning to it and that to me is the pure beauty of the book. To read it may sound simple but when you try to understand its meaning that’s when you realise it has got its layers going deepIn conclusion, I would say that the book will not be an easy read but is a necessary read. It would help you understand the importance of addressing the struggle of our mental ups and downs. To see the sun’s true glory, you have to be prepared to burn and go blind. That is what the book is about. Prepare to be hit by a strong current but at the same time, you will feel its warmth and strength. Powerful book. Powerful words that evoke powerful emotions.

I love this modern poetry book and recommend it to everyone.
“You’re in the abyss of despair,But there’s an oyster full of hopeKeeping mankind afloat.”There are nights in our life when we get succumbed to the darkness of nights, we are depressed & weak and don't want the dawn to arise. But in such cases, we can't give up easily. We need to pull our socks and keep going. But what keeps one going in such pitch-black darkness. A Hope of Ray!As Dickinson says “hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul, and sings the tune without words”, the poems in “My Black Rose” touch the chords of soul, sing with it, and heal us to be hopeful in the age of turmoil and uncertainties. This profound collection of poems will encourage you to find beauty in that black rose. It will encourage you to hope for the next cheerful day after going through an earlier sad day. Divided into 3 parts; Wounded, Scarred and Healing, the book is woven to give you rebirth and soothing.“For there is something about my black roseThat makes me believe in love and hope.”The author interprets different human emotions such as loneliness, grief, heartbreaks, solitude, love through her words that minutely examines human behaviors.Through its blurb, the book tells us to find the light at end of the tunnel. It tells us to go and keep moving even though we encounter an abyss that may eat us up because in the end what matters is hoping for the best, keep moving, and getting ahead in life. The beauty of poems is enormous. You may feel depressing at the start because the wounded and scarred parts depict the evil yet the humane side of us. But keep moving ahead to get enchanted by optimism, hope, bliss, and love. These varied-length poems will make home inside your heart only to make you realize words have the power to heal us.

"THE" best book I have read in quite some time!
""Darkness is my loyal friend, but the rainbow is my destined home"~ Deblina BhattacharyaJust received this book two hours ago. Two hours later, now I am sitting in my empty room thinking about it; the journey it took me through. I initially planned on reading this book slowly - a few pages at a time. But once I started reading, I just couldn't stop; as if the book was pulling me closer into it in a cold, scary, and dark, yet warm, fuzzy, and loving embrace.Whatever I felt reading this book, is probably the emotional place I had been searching for in books forever. A big thank you to her, for finally taking me to that place. The book truly is one of a kind. Even at first glance, the beauty of the cover, and the illustrations within, attract you like nectar does honeybees. But in all of it's beauty, the thing that really makes it stand one step above every book I have ever read, are the poems themselves. The whole book feels like a journey: a story weaved together with threads of silk - so smooth their feeling lingers on your soul for an eternity; so sharp they bruise you even with the softest touch.I was crying like a baby, smiling and giggling like a newborn, hurting like a wounded tiger, at peace like a saint: This book really did make me go through emotions I have rarely ever felt. One of the strongest souls I have ever known, her journey is truly commendable. A must recommended book for everyone. 🖤❤️🖤❤️

Beautiful poems
This collection of poems comes with a much needed content warning. They explore mental health, grief and struggling, although heavy topics there is light at the end of the tunnel. The poet highlighted contact details for those to seek help which I thought was a thoughtful action. The dedication was incredible sweet. My black rose expresses the journey that people go on through mental illness and grief. It was so real and raw, it took me back to my own battle and finally breathed words to my feelings. The poems were poignant and emotional, full of beautiful, vivid imagery. There were many different poetry styles, although modern they had hints from the classics. In certain poems I could hear my favourite poets Emily Dickinson and Sylvia Plath. There is a lot to study and unpick in these poems.Although the poems can be very dark there is hope and light as well. The themes of loss and body image really resonated with me. The language was exquisite and some poems had a musical quality to them. The cute designs peppered throughout the book were an added perk.
