This is an excellent source of information on deep sea fishes.

This book is outstanding. I am a professional biologist (but not an ichthyologist or oceanographer); I found the text highly readable and extremely informative. This is the best kind of scientific writing: delightful reading for the serious natural history enthusiast... but also good enough to serve as a reference for a professional student of deep-sea fishes. If you are interested in the ecology / biology / evolution / oceanography of one of the most fascinating biomes on Earth, this book is for you. Highly recommended!

This is an extremely thorough review of deep-sea fishes, including a detailed coverage of the oceanographic conditions (currents, biomes, geologic history, explorations, etc.). The coverage on the fish families is quite thorough. This is aimed at an advanced researcher, someone familiar with ichthyology and ecological principles. The general audience may be lost without pictures/figures of representatives of the different families. For me, working with mesopelagic fishes, this is an outstanding addition to my library.
