Loved it
This is a terrific book. Honest & highly readable, 'When The Road Beckons' is a first-person account of a young Indian who is on a quest to discover the very purpose of his life. The narrator is a disillusioned youth who is not just suicidal, but who's also unhappy with everything he has done in his life so far. So one day, he invests all the money that he has to buy a Royal Enfiled Thunderbird motorcycle, finds two friends who are willing to undertake the journey with him, and leaves Delhi for the mountains to find answers to his questions, some known to him, and some simmering deep inside. The group of three travels through Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, navigating on roads not known to be motorable, crisscrossing some of the most difficult mountain passes in the world, and risking their lives on more than a few occasions. The journey, in a way, introduces the narrator to the man he is capable of, waking him up in the process to his deepest desires, testing his nerves, making him fight with his innermost fears, and transforming him into the kind of person who is in firmer control of his destiny. That said, this book has a few typos and errors. I haven't taken any stars away for this, as I am aware that this is a self-published book and the author had no help from anyone. Yet, you must read this book and discover what a journey can do to a human soul.

A Memorable description of an enriching experience. Great Story & Narration
Wonderfully written book by an FMS & DTU alumni, he quotations at the beginning of each chapter are great & the surprise rhymes in the prose like the "girl in the green is nowhere to be seen" make it more interesting & memorable. Chapter are organised although the narrative falters a bit but again this is a real world account of riding & exploring. There are gemslike this one, "We either live in the future planning or in the past regretting. This present was my moment and I was going to have every bit of it. I had decided to focus all my emotions and thoughts on the present. After all our actions in the present shape our past that is yet to come and give us hopes for the future of tomorrow. Before we plan for the future, we must make the present right. You might not agree, but life is the sum total of the present moments put together."I Would love to read the next part of the story or any other books that RavMan books publish in future. The Now is the past of tomorrow, The future is born from its shadow. I embrace that what my soul reckons. Tread I must, when the Road Beckons.

Good book but lot of Gyan
Well I first appreciate the author for writing this book, it’sdifficult to write a book which took 3 years to complet. The story specially the travel experience is supurb, also the human interactions and realization are great. But I cannot give a 5* due to the lot of GYAN and his fantacy stories which he has covered here, sometimes it gives me felling the writer is a Casanova and every girl he has met in his journey has fallen for him.

Extraordinary detailing of the real journey of life...amazing
When i started reading the book i thought it was some ordinary travel book sharing experience of the author and detailing the place of travel, in piece of work;ladakh. But i found out that its much much more than a travel book. It is rather a book which makes ur mind ponder upon as to what is your own purpose of life... And the secret of embrassing the uncertainity... And the fulfillment it gives to your life..i absolutely loved this book . And i would highly recommend it to those who want to read something beyond a normal travel experience.. Something which is enlightening. And yes never the less the beauty of the travel places are drawn to the eye by the author inexplicably.. Superb book..loved it..

It was such a fantastic read. Undoubtedly
It was such a fantastic read.Undoubtedly, the book imparts a lot of wisdom, for both, life and the Leh- Ladakh trip. Towards the end of the book, not only does the writer evolve as a Ladakh Rider, but the reader too is in the process of turning into one. The experiences that change the protagonist are also changing the reader and preparing him/her for the challenges they are yet to face. The questions that bother him begins to bother us too, and before we can realise what is happening, we find ourselves seeking answers to the questions that are making him uncomfortable in his journey. It is a book of wisdom that takes you to a journey of enlightenment, and as the journey ends, both the reader and the author are a transformed version. The book keeps you hooked till the very end because the journey of the author is in a way the journey of the reader too, and who can afford to leave their journey in the middle?

A MAGICAL JOURNEY!
What do we call it? Travel diaries, Memoir, philosophy, Self help? This one is a masterpiece. All in one package. Ravi Manoram unleashes his journey to Ladakh all the way from Delhi in a uniquely magnificent and captivating manner. His choice of words and use of phrases adds to the beauty of this story. This book can change anyone. Its magical narration and pace keeps you attached to it. The characterization is phenomenal. Every character is justified and unforgettable. Anyone would connect with this book irrespective with the fact if he/she is a biker or not, for even if you are not a biker, you are always a rider because the life is a journey and the road always beckons. :)Thumbs up!Cheers.

Once you get past the utter nonsense that is the Prologue, the story starts off quite well….. BUT
It soon goes back to repetitive rambling. I know English is not his first language, but this is really poorly written. Don’t waste your time and money.

It's the journey not the goal
This book radically is the most unique inspirational?journey/life book for me. Unique way of writing and sentence construction gave this book a more personal tone. Often books like this is presented almost poetically or lyrically. This book for me is a "laymen's" way of writing: simple, straightforward but effective. We often see life as a goal to be reached. This book will remind us again that no matter how great the end point is, 99% of what will make it that great is the journey from the starting point to the goal. I was fascinated and intrigued of what motorbiking in a mountain looks or feels like that I searched the web for mountain motorbiking and Ladakh. I was glad I did. Through that, I completely was emerged in what the author saw, heard and felt during his journey.Although many will just see this as a story of journey, the journey itself is the inspiration and the life book here. Many dialogues in the book is as simple as us conversing with close peers or relatives but contains highly logical and inspirational think-tank. I enjoyed the book well. It gave me a new way to look at life as journeys on a mountain trail.

Fascinating masterpiece. Deserve thunderous applause.
“Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out and bleeding”“We humans only tend to survive for another day and in that process we do not live at all, only drag our bodies through decades of existence”“Found my tears washing off my soul”These are few lines from the soulful masterpiece, which pierced through my heart and touched the immortal soul.It is one of the most amazing and enthralling book, I have ever read. Reading this book, is a kind of going on adventurous journey, similar to authors bike ride to Ladakh. This book, not only depicts exciting journey to treacherous terrain of ladakh, but also, ever-changing states of life, meandering phases human emotions- hate anger lie, laugh, grudge, content which we always come across. All favours and aroma of life is bundled together and presented amazingly in this book. This reading journey, made me to think again, again and again.Someday, can I embark on journey to treacherous terrain of ladakh?Someday, can I embark on real journey of my own life?Hope, one day, I will also ride to ladakh on beautiful and curvaceous Royal Enfield.Hope, One day I will embark on real journey of my own life, where anger grudge and lust will subside, eternal happiness will embrace me tightly.Fascinating masterpiece. Deserve thunderous applause.

A thought provoking book
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. A trio of guys embark on a long and meaningful journey to Ladakh on their motorcycles. The trip to Ladakh has the highest roads in the world full of mountains, sharp turns, scarcity of oxygen and deep gorges. But these dangers are worthwhile because of it's alluring natural beauty and the sense of accomplishment one receives when completing the journey. This book pushes you to look at yourself and find what's meaningful in your life and strive to achieve it no matter what. The character had to overcome fear, uncertainty and doubt in order to discover himself. The writing style was so enchanting that I felt as if I were on my own bike riding along with them. The visuals drawn in the book are amazing and I could easily imagine the cities and scenery in my mind. The author's writing style is remarkable. This book is a must read!
