So here's the deal. As soon as you get it, place it outside for 2 to 3 weeks. Don' t worry about it getting rained or snowed on- that's even better. You're going to have to have faith on this one, be patient - the smell does go away. I put this in the back of my new mazda 3 hatchback after that waiting period and it's fine now. Im aware of the smell when i first get in the car . then, after 1 minute, i'm totally unaware of it. I've always been sensitive to smells- If it was overpowering at all, I would tell you.... but it's not. This is a great product, really looks beautiful. not too heavy, not too light- just heavy enough to lay nice and flat. i was considering the rubber cal elephant bark floor mat or the rubber cal recycled mat but didn't find them to be as attractive, having a rough porous surface- still attractive but it depends on what you're looking for.

The mat is not 3mm but 2mm thick. Only over the raised areas is it 3mm thick. Would have preferred the mat to be thicker as it feels rather flimsy. Because it’s so thin it doesn’t lie nice and flat when you lay it down initially. Hopefully it will flatten out over time.

WOW! I got this as a liner for the back of my Jeep and had enough left over for a trunk mat in our other car. This is a heavy duty mat that is tough enough to protect your rig and has the diamond pleat texture that keeps things from sliding. This is really quite thick and does not cut with regular scissors I used tin shears and a razor knife and the old carpet as a guide. One thing to note is that you will want to roll it out on a sunny day to let it flatten out and air out as the "new tire" smell is there until it warms up and cools once.
