Walthers Cornerstone Series Kit HO Scale Merchant's Row I

Excellent addition to any layout with lots of detail appropriate for any downtown area.

I purchased the building set from Amazon.com because I am expanding my HO Train Platform & needed more business type buildings for my Business & Downtown District. This is a great addition & the detail & colors are fantastic. I am very pleased with the workmanship in this Walther Cornerstone Set. I would recommend this to anyone who is either just starting or expanding their HO Train Platform.

Looks great as a start of a main street on lay out

I purchased this kit to provide the majority of shops on my HO train layout. The kit went together easily and the detailing is wonderful (so typical of Walthers Cornerstone kits). In my case, I cut the 'block' such that it was ~3" thick as it was to be used as a background scene. With the installation of window scenes (and figures)Merchant's Row is a great addition to any layout. As with any styrene kit, I recommend one paint the structure (allowing some variation between 'shops').

Arrived on time and packed very well with otheritems I'd ordeded. It was in great condition. All pieces were in tact and very realistic looking. I can't wait to put ithis together and add this and the other row 2 to my village collection.

It is a great kit; full of details and requiring a lot of assembly time, especially for painting. It is marked for 14 years and older and for good reason.

Very hard to put together

The kit goes together well and is easily to detail. The biggest problem is the sidewalk on set 1. It is sectional making it harder to attach. Later Merchant Row kit (II-V) have better thought out side walks but none match in color with each other.

Like all the Walthers kits this well detailed and can be easily anglicised to suit a British setting. There is not much that is comparable produced this side of the Atlantic unfortunately.

C’est mon troisième bâtiment de merchant, apprécie énormément, sauf mise à part les directives (instructions). Si vous n’avez pas d’expérience il se peut que ça soit un peu ardue mais pas assez pour s’en passer. Un reproche serait également les enseigne avec les collants. Si vous n’avez pas le kit de colle pour ces décalques une fois pausé, il se peut que le tout décolle!!!! Merchant row I II et III n’ont pas de roomette pour l’intérieur contrairement pour le 4 et 5. Je donne 4 étoiles car ça vaut quand même la peine d’avoir ces bâtiments dans un layout des années 50-60. Bon bricolage!!!

Wer sich entschieden hat, eine Modellbahnanlage nach US-Vorbild bauen zu wollen, kommt früher oder später an den Cornerstone-Bausätzen der Fa. Walthers nicht vorbei. Leider ist die Qualität dieser Bausätze überhaupt nicht mit jener der Firmen Auhagen, Kibri oder gar Vollmer zu vergleichen. Das schöne bunte Deckelbild der "Ladenzeile I" täuscht: Die Plastikteile sind in ausschließlich einer Farbe gehalten, um eine Fassade wie auf der Abbildung zu erreichen muss man also ziemlich lange "den Pinsel schwingen". Darüber hinaus erinnert die Qualität der Plastikteile fatal an die der 70iger Jahre (ja, ich habe auch damals schon Modellhäuschen gebaut!), für die Fensterverglasung gibt es klobige, überhaupt nicht passende "Klarsichtbretter" (die man dann nach Gutdünken über möglichst viele Fensteröffnungen klebt) und für die Ausgestaltung oder gar Inneneinrichtung ist - abgesehen ein paar Ladenschildern - gar nichts vorgesehen. Also - wer von den heutigen europäischen Qualitätsanforderungen an einen Modellbausatz ausgeht: Hier ist Vorsicht geboten, lieber noch einmal den Markt durchforsten, ob nicht Bausätze anderer Anbieter den eigenen Ansprüchen - und der eigenen Geduld! - besser entsprechen.
