CelestronDovetail Bar CGE 8in - 94216,multicolor

I like that this remains very stiff but light as it is formed to avoid solid cross section that isn't needede to achieve stiffness. I have 2 -11" SCTs and one 8" SCT. I have another brand on one of the 11" scopes but prefer the lighter Celestron version. It also has the correct spacing and centers the optics perfectly so no spacers need.

Nice bar. Used it to mount the Celestron Autoguider Scope and rings package. Used it on my C8 SGT XLT Advanced Series scope and the holes lined up perfectly. I only wish it came with extra long replacement screws as the stock ones you take out are not long enough to use to mount this to your scope. The bar itself adds height and the stock screws only get a bite on the threads. Not worth loosing your Guidescope and autoguider because the dovetail isn't secured properly. A trip to the hardware store will cure this. Take the old screws with you and the bar so you can get the right thread size and length. Only look for new screws that add a length that is the thickness of the bar. You don't want to go too long as then they won't seat all the way down since they can't protrude into your scope.Additional comment: It says 8 inch...but it does fit the 13.5 inches needed on the C8. I think they should disclose that as I bought it with a prayer it wasn't really 8 inches long which would come up short to line up with the existing mounting holes in my scope. Obviously what they mean to say it fit's the Celestron 8 inch scopes. It would have been nice before I bought mine if they would have clarified that so I thought I would mention it for anyone that may have that same question in mind. :)

Fit the C8 very well. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. Is because. A dew heater band. Has to be wrapped around the outside of the bar. Which leaves a considerable gap in the heater band. Other then that. It worked great!

If your planning on upgrading the mount that came with your Celestron NexStar to an Equatorial ,this should be on your upgrade list along with changing the saddle

Fits my circa 2005 C8 perfectly. And the CGEM saddle. After using the Vixen style dovetail and saddle on several scopes, I now greatly prefer the Celestron/Losmandy design. It just feels stronger, safer, and less likely to send my precious optics crashing to the ground on a dark night.

Excellent dovetail bar. Well made and perfect for mounting my Meade Adventurer 80mm guidescope atop my 8SE.

Exact fit for my Edge8HD. Love it.

Fit my 2004 C8+ OTA like a glove, supplied hex head screws length fit great not to long or to short.
