Funny and zany series for beginner readers
If you have a child who likes funny, unexpected stories with silly but beautiful illustrations, this series is for you. Claude is a dog pet whose best friend is a sock. Everyday after his owners leave for work, he goes on adventures in the city and even travels to further places. In these adventures, he faces all kind of situations and meets all kind.of people. Sometimes he makes the right decisions like saving a kid from a shark and becoming a heroe but others not so much like going on a pirate adventure. The only thing that might need attention from parents is the fact that some illustrations are a little crude and might not the safest for kids. For example, the ladies are shown with somewhat sexy clothes that show their anatomy but I honestly think it is just the style of art and although the anatomy is accentuated, it is not meant to be sexual. I would recommend to the parents concerned about it to take a look at the books and determine if this is ok for their families. In my case, we love the style of illustrations and the ridiculously funny stories of this charming dog and friend. We also got all the audiobooks in yoto cards so my child can read while listening to the story

After falling in love with the audiobooks, my 6, 8 and 10 year olds enjoy reading these easy early “chapter” books.

Missing Book
The books are great, but the first book (Claude in the City) was missing. There was a duplicate of another book.

Lovely for early readers
My 6 year old is working her way through the Claude Series (currently on book 4). They are lovely books. Claude the dog and his trusty sidekick Sir Bobblysock have a different adventure in each book. They are very tame so suitable for young children. There aren't many words to a page and there are lots of lovely illustrations, so much akin to the Jasper and Scruff series (which my daughter also loves), so they are a good choice for those just starting out in the world of chapter books. They aren't too overwhelming. My daughter is a very confident reader so in reality these are probably too easy for her in terms of the volume of words. She can read the whole book in 2 short sittings or one slightly longer one if we have time. However, she has been loving them, so I haven't minded the fact that she will devour them at warp speed!

Funny for kids and grown ups
We love Claude but our favourite character is Sir Bobblysock. Humour is a bit above my 6 year old in places but it’s perfect for the mummy who has to read it with her every night!
