Matthew Rice A Year in the Country 2022 Wall Calendar (30.5 x 30.5 cm)

I have relied on these Matthew Rice calendars for many years and always look forward to the next version around this time of year, I love the format, artwork, recipes and inspiration.This year the date boxes have become very small and the calendar background is very white. Some of us oldies still write our daily doings in these boxes so please may we have the larger ones again next year.

I love these calendar and have been buying it for years. However, the Amazon retailer has stuck a sticker on the outside cover (see photos) which when you peel off takes the cover design off. I usually give these calendars as gifts at Christmas; the sticker has spoilt the calendar & I will look elsewhere in the future.

The illustrations and quality are amazing, but I'm disappointed as the display size is now HUGE, and the days on the calendar have become impractical due to being narrowed down. It was better last year when it was "flipchart" style with a metal flip binding and could be hung with a beautiful illustration above the good-sized days of the month, on just the one page. So fine if you've got a huge wall you want to fill, and don't mind hanging it really high so you're not having to stare up at the illustrations, or bend down to write entries into the teeny tiny boxes.

I have been buying and enjoying these calendars for years. This current one 2022 just purchased lacks the quality of previous years. The paper is thinner, it is less colourful and the boxes for the days are smaller. All round it is less lovely. Please revert to previous style and quality otherwise I will stop buying them.

This is my third calendar by Matthew Rice. The first I adored - I couldn't wait to see the next month and I learned things. Last year was okay by comparison but the art was still good and the content interesting. This year it seems like he's phoned it in. The actual calendar part looks like someone forgot to choose and change the format/font so its template-style is rigid and basic, totally at odds with the aesthetic of the calendar. I also object to February being used to flog his book about Venice. There is not even an effort to associate a trip to Venice with Valentine's day. I find myself annoyed now when I am in the loo and have to look at the calendar. I won't buy another.

This is my go to calendar, beautiful illustrations and very practical. Ten out of ten!

Bought this calendar as a present for second year running as so well liked. Information for each month. Colourful. Quite large when opened out and hung on wall.

I keep a garden diary and this calender is a great inspiration,sometimes even a conscience nudger!
