I'm not especially fussy about my nails, but I am a guitar player and they need to be maintained at reasonable lengths to play. I don't care about the ridges that began showing up at some point, so honing and polishing are not on my radar for nail maintenance. However, I'm getting older (60s) and my nails often will crack or split, which requires some cleanup. For as long as I can remember I've made due with cheap little nail clippers and their built-in files. My wife gave me a diamond nail file, and works, but it leaves my nails feeling rough, though they are good for removing a lot of nail material in a hurry.And then I purchased this crystal-glass file on a whim and it has exceeded my expectations. It's finer than the emery boards but has enough "grit" to file and shape my nails, and it's supposed to last longer. I love the smooth feel of the glass "grit" on my nails. Some have compared it to nails on a blackboard, but I don't feel that. This file is a real revelation. It's more expensive than emery boards, but is definitely worth it. Now, if I drop the file and it beaks, I might change my mind, but right now I'm loving it.Update after 5 and a half months: I still love this nail file. I use it exclusively to maintain my nails, rarely resorting to clippers unless I’m in a hurry. And I haven’t dropped it once. It feels heavy in the hand; I suspect it would survive a fall on a hardwood floor, and certainly on carpeting. Not sure about a stone floor. Also, I’ve noticed no wear to the grit. My file still looks and performs like it’s new. Maintenance is gently rubbing it with soap and water and air dry after use. I can’t recommend it too highly.

I bought this a year ago and it is easily the best nail file I have ever used. I wanted to buy more to give as Christmas gifts, but I’m disappointed to see that they are no longer sold with the leather case. I really love my leather case!I suppose the file is what really matters, but I just don’t feel like it’s really a nice enough gift to give when it’s just in a suede case.

There's not much to say other than to confirm what some others have said already. It does have a fine side and of coarse side. you can tell by the feel of it if you know about blast that this isn't normal glass it feels slightly heavier. Typically that's a good thing. As it goes with all high quality glass nail files as long as I don't drop it I'm sure it will last a lifetime. That was my only reason for purchasing this one. After dropping the one I had for 15 years I decided to buy another one. I ordered a different one about a week ago and it wasn't even close to the quality of the one I broke.This one is as good if not better! I wish it was a little cheaper but compared to the other ones that are being sold it's worth the price. I will either buy it again or possibly buy more for gifts in the future!

This is a nice file not made in China. I had a glass file bought from a beauty store probably 15 years ago. My daughter dropped it and it broke. I still use the pieces but wanted a replacement. This file is thicker and somewhat more aggressive than my other one. I like it, I don't regret buying it, but I like my old one better. That being said, I'm also resistant to change.

Works really nice, but I'd like to see one with a beveled edge for getting under really short nails.

This file is very different from all other nail files and it does a very nice job, better than I expected.

I have a similar one that I purchased from Sam moon years ago for just about a dollar but since then, every other one I've purchased just hasn't been the same quality; the grit was terrible and only a few tiny corners would actually file your nail. Same experience with a couple others I purchased on Amazon. And then I found this one from GERmanikure! Yep it's expensive but it works amazingly just like my original one from Sam moon so I'm okay with payiing the price.The grit is perfect and it gets the job done every single time. The packaging is also beautiful as is the design at the top of the file. What's not to love. I only wish it was cheaper but o well...
