Into Temptation: Books 7-9
UNSHACKLEUnshackle is the 7th book in the Deliver series and it’s an OMG read, not for the faint of heart! I had forgotten how I felt at the ending of Manipulate that I had to take time and decide on how I felt about the book. Well I felt a little like that with Unshackle too. This is Luke Sanch’s and Vera Gomez’s story. Unshackle had me biting my nails and all sorts of nervous things while reading. There is violence and dark themes to this story. I felt like I was reading with one eye open and wary about what would happen next. There are so many twists and turns to the story and there were times when I wanted to put this book down but found I couldn’t because I needed to find out what was going to happen next. That’s what makes it a great book to read but only if you are prepared for a pretty dark book to read! 4.5 Stars for this one.DOMINATEDominate is the 8th book in the Deliver series. Each book can be read as a standalone. But, it is best to read each of these books in order. See below for the order. It helps to keep me straight on all the stories and characters. This is Rylee and Tomas Dine’s story. Rylee Sutton hit a low point in her life. Her husband had left her for another woman. You know the old story where she puts him through med school then found him having sex with another woman. Now she can either end her life or live with the pain or move on, stop feeling. Now 10 years later who knew that this would lead her into an even darker point in her life. When she meets Tomas Dine. This is another pretty dark story in this series. But then all the other book in this series have been pretty dark. So be prepared.I love how authors incorporate the other characters from a series and then I get to follow up on them from the previous books in the series.DELIVER series (HEAs with no cliffhangers - must be read in order):Deliver Us - Box SetDeliver #1 - Joshua Carter & Liv ReedVanquish #2 - Van Quiso & Amber RosenfeldDisclaim #3 - Matias Guerra & Camila DiasFrom Evil - Box SetDevastate #4 - Tate Vade & Lucia DiasTake #5 - Tiago Badell & KateManipulate #6 - Martin Lockwood, Ricky Saldivar & Tula GomezInto Temptation - Box SetUnshackle #7 - Luke Sanch & Vera GomezDominate #8 - Tomas Dine & Rylee SuttonComplicate #9 - Cole Hartman & Trace Savoy and Danni AngeloI read something at the end of this book that tickled me pink!!! There is a teaser at the end of this book for the next book, Complicate. I didn’t realize that the Deliver series Cole was the same Cole in The Tangled Lies series! Another must read if you love dark books.COMPLICATEComplicate is the ninth book in the Deliver Series and brings around the conclusion of the Deliver Series and a tie in with Tangled Lies another of Pam Godwin’s series. And, in my opinion, it is also a must read series. We first met Cole Hartman in Tangled Lies and Cole shows up again in Unshackle, book 8. Complicate is a great ending to a great series. This is my favorite book out of the entire series and it has been a 5+ STAR series!I wanted Cole to have Danni again but this book took their relationship in another direction and in my opinion a much better direction where she gave Cole a woman of his very own! ;)I am sad to see the Deliver Series end. I don’t know what is next for Pam Godwin but all I know is I can’t wait! I love her style of writing. So whatever is next, I will be reading it! 5 + Stars for this book and the entire series.

Darkly Delicious
Unshackle4.5 Stars!Man, did this book hit the ground running. This is another one that I devoured in less than a day, which is rare for me. I’ve now binged on three books from this series in a row, and I really don’t know what I’m going to do with my life when I’m done with this series.Anyway…this is Luke’s story. The main thing we know about Luke is that he is the super hot one. Even more so than the other vigilantes which is saying a lot! He uses his looks to manipulate, connive, and slither into (or out) of whatever predicament he and the Freedom Fighters find themselves in.This story starts off where Manipulate left off. Luke and Tomas are infiltrating the La Rocha cartel in search of Tula’s sister, Vera Gomez.Right off the bat, nothing is ever what it seems in this dark and gritty world that Godwin has so beautifully created. Allies can be enemies. And seeming enemies may be more.Luke is thrown into the chaotic and bloody world of the cartel where every decision is crucial. Appearances are vital, and to stay under the radar, he must truly take on the persona of a human slave owner, the thing he loathes the most.Do not underestimate my words when I say that this was one of the darkest installments of this series. There’s rape, brutal fighting, graphic bloodshed, and a scene with some spiders that I will be having nightmares about for a LONG time to come. But Luke was also among the most romantic of the vigilante men. I adored how fiercely protective he was of Vera.“Our souls match, and I don’t think it’s accidental. It’s as if they were merged together long ago, separated, and are finally reconnecting.”This was another intense, unputdownable installment of this brilliant series. Dark romance GOLD!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Dominate3.5 Stars"Oh, Rylee." Laughing cruelly, he dodged her strikes and swatted away her fists. "You break my heart.""You harden mine."The eighth installment of the Deliver series gives us the elusive Tomas’s story. I’ve been curious about Tomas for a while just because he seems to be the quietest of the group, and then there was mention about how he hasn’t had sex in like 10 years… and let’s not forget the other mention about his 10 inch…(because I sure haven’t!) These are all the makings for my favorite kind of reclusive, tortured hero. However, in truth while there are parts of this installment that I really enjoyed, it was probably my least favorite of the series so far. I just thought some parts of the plot were a little far-fetched and over the top. And to be honest, at least in the first half of the book, I thought Tomas was just plain mean. I don’t think what Riley did warranted being thrown out in a desert, starved, and deprived of just basic human respect. Also, while Tomas’s character was a massive improvement in the second half, there wasn’t much of a transition from enemies to lovers to just lovers. It was literally from one chapter to the next that he went from absolutely despising Riley to being all in with her. He did come to some realizations during some of the page time that was in Riley’s POV. I just think that maybe if the realizations he came to would have happened while we were on the page with him, the reader would’ve been able to “go there” with Tomas more. As it was it just seems like whiplash.I did love some parts of the second half though. And, as always, this was an extremely steamy story with lots of scenes that burned up my Kindle!"He nibbled when she bit, caressed when she scratched, and hummed when she growled"The end spends a lot of time setting up for Cole’s story and I cannot wait to jump into that one next, though I don’t want this series to end!!!“If you put this much energy into hating me,” he breathed against her mouth, “I can only imagine the amount of intensity and passion you’ll put into loving me.”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Complicate3 Stars"I’m addicted to you,” she breathed.“I don’t want to be an addiction. I want to be the love of your life.”To say that I have been looking forward to Cole Hartman's story would be one of the vastest understatements EVER in the history of the English language. I read the Tangled Lies trilogy back when it came out and although I was not #TeamCole, I loved him and his character radiated off the page! We've been seeing glimpses of Cole throughout the latter part of this series which was so exciting. And I was happy to see that his fierce nature had not wavered in the least little bit. This book started out pretty strongly. When Cole finds himself captured by a seemingly Russian spy operative on a quest for information, he has to figure out what to do next. Now, at this point, it's been eight years since he lost Danni. While I did enjoy the whole "meet cute" between Cole and Lydia, the pacing of their evolution just seemed off to me. That combined with a storyline that was heavily loaded with sex and not enough emotion and depth to back it up just left me wanting.Did I enjoy parts of this story? Yes.Did I love it? Sadly, no.Now, with everything above being said, if that would have been all, I probably would've rated this book a little higher, say 3.5 stars? HOWEVER, the cheesy political storyline that was, ermmmmm for the sake of avoiding spoilers, VERY parallel to certain recent events in American politics?? No, just NO.This is where I come for my safe solace AWAY from all that. Please do not involve even 1% of real life with what is supposed to be fiction and fantasy and escapism. Not to mention, this author is SOOOOOOOOOOO much better than some cheap political parody.I will just say, it was disappointing.I still loved this series overall and it is one of my top favorite dark romance series EVER, and I will miss this entire cast of characters terribly.
