Exactly as I remember. So glad I was able to get this in paperback. Mom taught me how to read with this book

Fun for a real "Janet and John" couple
The title characters bear the names of my husband and I. When I googled our names once this cute book came up. I am a teacher and found it delightful that the British version of "Dick and Jane" is "Janet and John".I framed the book in a shadowbox for my husband and it is a great conversation piece for our home.

BRINGS BACK MEMORIES
At school I learned how to read using this book in mid 1950's England. It's nice to see Amazon has it. This wasn't the only Janet and John book, there were several, all with different brightly coloured covers, for different stages of learning. These books helped me to read very quickly.

I thought I was paying only a few dollars for this book to find out after they shipped it that it costing me over $80. for shipping. I contacted the company and they said they could not do anything about it.

As the book says, 'a delightful trip down memory lane'
Okay, for someone brought up on Janet & John books in primary school in the 1970's this was (as the book says) ' a delightful trip down memory lane'. My school day books were published in 1947 but this is a 2007 reprint. Quality printing with delightful pictures of Janet and John going about their day. A great book for those children just starting to read (and perhaps for those at the other end of the age range!)

Good old Janet and John!
Yes, it's old fashioned but the simple repetition is rewarding for a beginner reader. Too many books aimed at new readers actually have far too many difficult words in them. There's a list of words at the back so it's easy to check whether they've actually been learnt or whether your bright child is just remembering them by looking at the picture! It's nostalgic too for us grandparents who learnt to read with Janet & John. I bought both 'Off to Play' and 'Here we Go'
