Just What I Needed
Alright, first off, let me say that this platform was exactly what I was looking for when I decided to remodel my room. My older bed was cracking at the hinges, squeaking, and making all sorts of noise in addition to being unstable. I had tolerated that for a while, but eventually I decided it was time for me to cave in and do some research on purchasing a new bed.Note: I use the term "bed" but this platform does NOT come with the mattress, bedspread, and so on. Those are purchased separately.Anyway, I wanted to redecorate/remodel my room with a whole black/white scheme, so my furniture needed to be black (while the wall was painted white). I wanted to downsize all the clutter of furniture I was previously using as well, and I had several chests of drawers and dressers that I didn't really need. The fact that this bed came with two drawers for storage was PERFECT for me, and might I add, they are fairly spacious and open up much smoother than I expected; they are as quiet as a mouse. To eliminate any confusion, it only comes with two drawers on one side, not four.Constructing/putting together this piece did take a little over three hours, but that was by myself, and this setup would go a lot quicker with two or more people involved. The instructions do a good job in walking you through the setup process, and all of the parts are definitely there (except for tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, and things of that nature). I'd say with two "handy" individuals it would take around two hours to put together; and trust me, the ned result is well worth it!If, by any chance, you "ding" up the bed, it comes with a touch-up marker that can cosmetically cover-up any surface scratches and things of that nature, which is nice, but I didn't have any problem with that. It's been over a month now, and I can honestly say I am very pleased with the purchase; not to mention the price is quite the bargain, and free shipping to boot! This allows my bed to be very sturdy and it doesn't "shake" or move around through all the tossings and turnings of the night. I give this product a 5/5 rating, and I would highly recommend it to anyone! :)

Great platform bed
Came in a giant box, was really hard to get into the house by myself, and I ended up bending a bottom piece from the jerking and thumping I had to do to get it into the house - so I suggest you wait until you have help to get it in if you can. My husband and I assembled it, it wasn't difficult. Honestly, the key is simply to choose the A or B setup and mark out the directions for the method you won't use, as the instructions for both assembly methods are side by side for each step throughout. Another tip is to tear out the hardware guide page once you're past that point to keep you from getting lost from flipping back to constantly reference. The only confusing part was that there was an included tool that seemed more like a part. The directions weren't crystal clear that it was just a tool to help balance the pressure of hammering in the drawer rails before screwing them in to keep the hammer from making dents, so beware that confusing step. Most of the bed is solid, heavy material that is very sturdy. The only thing I'd change is the particle wood pieces that lay flat on top of the frame to actually hold your mattress up. They don't cover 100% of the space, and while gaps are minimal and even, I'd rather have a more sturdy material for that part and for the pieces to fit tightly into the space. It would get 5 stars were it not for that one aspect.Overall it is nice and sturdy, was simple to assemble, no problems, and irritations were minor keeping in mind there were TWO competent adults working on the assembly.

uhhh
Shipping 0/5 starsAssembly 1/5 starsConstruction 3/5 starsInstructions 2/5I had a horrible expirence having this item delivered by UPS. i was on the phone/chats/conference calls between amazon and UPS for around (on and off not constant) 2 hours being told different things "it will no be delivered due to weight" " it will be delivered" "amazon needs to contact us to change shipping method" "UPS is refusing to change shipping and is returning these items" this list can go on... When it finally did come the UPS drivers refused to bring it upstairs because it was to heavy (not angry at them at all, i just opened it down stairs and brought it up piece by piece no problem) but an item like this if its weight is an issue should never have been accepted by the UPS system, and amazon who uses UPS all the time should KNOW what is and is not acceptable in the UPS system. The assembly is horrible many of the predrilled holes are not present, and some are not correctly placed...... we also are 6 screws short to assemble the 2nd drawer. One of the draws also sticks out slightly which is going to be a shin nightmare.Sadly the construction rating is 3 stars simply because some predrilled holes are not correctly placed and i am unable to install the second draw, and the other draw sticks out. Aside from these things it is very solid and sturdy. Draws are very shallow. The manual says you need a robinson screwdriver #1 and #2 i have no idea what either is, and never will because the screws it said i needed them for were regular phillips screws...... Also for the construction of the fake drawer i highly suggest attaching it before the instructions tell you too.... when they tell you to the bed is already assembled and i had to force screw it levitating into the frame with no predrilled holes into it, would have been easier screwing it into the pieces when they were not attached and were laying on the floor...they also say you will not need a drill for the construction of this bed....you do yes you do.

For the price I expected slightly better quality materials and finishes
Not a super expensive bed. But for the price I expected slightly better quality materials and finishes. Would've been 4 stars if the price is say 10-15% lower.Marking on pieces could use some better / more consistent placement to help assemble. One star taken off for this.

To heavy
The problem is the weight of the boxes. Even when I was younger I would have had trouble lifting it. The delivery service left. It in a snow bank leaning against a tree in my driveway 50 feet away from my porch. I had to get friends to help bring it in.

Good value, but concerned about long term durability
Came in two boxes, one of which was simply too heavy for 1 person to carry so I broke it open and carried the pieces up one by one.No pieces were missing, all were the correct colour. Was relatively easy for one person to put together in an afternoon. My only concern is with the three mattress support boards, they're only about 1cm thick and are only supported at two points in the middle and on both ends, so I'm worried about long term warping. South Shore should think about including an "X" support frame, thicker boards or perhaps a set of solid 3/4" or 1" wood planks. The two drawers are average size, about 24" wide by 14" deep.

Awesome
We've had this bed for a while now, and it's pretty great. For what we paid, it was a good value. I would have liked to have more storage than the two flat little drawers, but it's a huge step up from having nothing. I can at least keep all of our spare bedding in one of the drawers... plus, I can tuck away a few other little random things in the other. You can hardly even notice that there are drawers; they don't stick out all ugly or anything. The only downside is that there is a slight gap between the boards that the mattress rests on and the side panel. So, unfortunately, as dust builds up, it ends up in the drawer, too. I have to dust off the top rim of the drawers every couple of days. It's a dust magnet. Regardless, it's still the best bed I've ever had.
