FROM THE MANUFACTURER - MINERALS RESOURCE INT'L - Ionique's electrolytes will most certainly help during a water fast to keep you properly hydrated. Many health professionals promote the use of trace minerals and electrolytes while fasting and report great results. Electrolytes help to "open" your cells and allow the water in. Without the naturally occurring electrolytes that would be present in food, supplementing your water with minerals during a water fast would most definitely be beneficial.

MINERAL RESOURCES INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE: In broad terms, Ionique contains the naturally occurring minerals and trace minerals that are found in sea water. This does include very, very small amounts of heavy metals. To put this in perspective, the levels are so low that when the product is sent out for independent lab analysis, these elements are regularly not detected with state-of-the-art equipment. The product is rigorously tested for purity, and it has been officially approved by the FDA to receive a GRAS designation, which means “Generally Recognized as Safe,” for human use. Additionally, Ionqiue passes a heavy metals safety test for mineral ingredients that are used in foods. It is a pass or fail test that comes from the U.S. Food Chemicals Codex, which is a compendium of ingredients that can be used in foods.
