Outlandish TV
Showrunner Ronald D. Moore: Thank you! You have successfully crossed the bridge from Diana Gabaldon's spellbinding novel to a lush TV adaptation in OUTLANDER - SEASON 1. Upon learning there was going to be a TV series based on the Outlander books, I was skeptical the developers could ever successfully cast such rich, deep characters as Claire Randall or Jamie Fraser. Was I ever wrong. Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan are literally Claire and Jamie leaping from the pages of the book. And while we're on the subject of the cast, Tobias Menzies is superb playing lovesick/bewildered husband Frank Randall, and evil incarnate Captain Jonathan "Black Jack" Randall. The three leading roles aptly carry the freight through all episodes of Season 1.No need to rehash the story; if you're on this page you're already a fan of the books. But I was impressed by the sets, the costumes, the settings, the research; this is 18th Century Scotland on your flat screen. And the supporting cast is extraordinary. I was especially impressed with Duncan Lacroix as brooding, loyal Murtagh, and Graham McTavish as scheming Dougal MacKenzie. But all the actors blend and mesh to relate a tale of love, time travel, destiny, and passion; Season 1 is a visual triumph. Of the 16 episodes, I found the episode "The Devil's Mark" the most riveting, but it goes without saying, there's a lot of competition.Extras. Each episode has a podcast commentary by Moore and another member of the creative team. This commentary adds a rich layer of how the episode came together, along with any humorous or dramatic obstacles the cast and crew encountered as the episode was made. There are features about the cast, the sets, the costumes and weapons; it's all fascinating. And Gabaldon herself appears in a feature or two--she's clearly a huge fan of the TV series. The Collector's Edition of OUTLANDER - SEASON 1 is TV at its zenith. This bloke is definitely looking forward to the succeeding seasons.~D. Mikels, Esq.

Code for redeeming the Digital HD Ultraviolet copy gives "Code not valid in your region."
This Season 1 Outlander Blu-Ray was advertised as having a Digital HD Ultraviolet copy included with purchase. It is not possible to redeem this from Sony Pictures however. The screen reads "Code not valid in your region." I purchased seasons 1-4 together at the same time, in May 2019. I could not redeem Season 1 (sold by STMedia Group) or 2 (sold by Blockchain Media), but I could redeem the digital copies of Season 3 and 4 (sold by Amazon).

Digital Code only for the UK
Don't be me, read thoroughly all of the item description, even the tiny print....like the part where it says that the code for the digital download is redeemable only in the UK. Now I'm out of luck trying to watch the show while traveling because I didn't see that and the code will not work for me. Not the fault of the seller, though it would have been nice if that disclaimer was larger so it stands out.The show itself is wonderful!

No Digital Copy outside the UK
I echo all the good things people have said about the Outlander series in general and this disc set in particular. Just be forewarned that digital copy is unavailable outside of the UK, so if you're buying this set in the hopes of adding it to your digital library, you will be sorely disappointed. Were it not for that, I would give this set 5 stars.

Visual of the Outlander books. Brings them to life - marvelous!
It is the first year of the TV series of the “Outlander” based on the books of Diana Gabeldon. I am able to share this with others that have read the book series but not seen the TV series on STARZ network.

I had read the book and Season 1 Collector's Edition of the DVD did not disappoint. It was wonderful and followed the book really well. I thoroughly enjoyed all the 16 episodes and the actors who portrayed Claire and Jamie were great and fit their role so well as did the others.

I especially enjoyed the Making of Outlander book
I especially enjoyed the Making of Outlander book. It was very informative and interesting and showed the level of work effort given by the entire team in order to be as true to the books and time periods as possible. As one who has read all of the books twice now I believe they are doing a fantastic job.
