it was a like a dream come true
I got this product, and used the same day. Let me tell you, it was a like a dream come true. Some history....I have had the Heyward triangular vacuum head for 5 seasons (in Michigan it's seasons, not years). It's the vacuum head that the bristles always break completely off after a season or two, and the replacement brushes are about $35. I never left the vacuum head in the sun, always in the shade. Not knowing much about this subject, or wanting to take a chance on another brand of vacuum head, I would reluctantly purchase the replacement brushes, knowing that they would all break off relatively soon. Finally, I had had enough of this extremely frustrating way of vacuuming, as the Heyward is not the quickest or easiest thing to use.So, I started to look at other alternatives, and found this Pool Supply Town model to be quite highly reviewed, and figured I'd give it a try. I read most of the reviews, and followed everyone's advice on making sure all the screws and nuts were tight before using (they were pretty tight, but they all moved about a 1/2 turn to full turn). It is quite heavy, which helps it sit on the floor or wall of the pool very easily ( I do not have to push it down to the bottom). I hooked up the vacuum hose to it, and wondered how much suction it would have, as it appears to just be a flat head with a hole in the middle for the hose. Well, it sucked my hand right to the hole, making me now a little afraid that it would suction itself to the bottom of the pool. So I carefully placed it down in the shallow end, and it did not get stuck to the floor. I started moving it a little, and instantly I noticed how incredibly easy the vacuum head moves around with those wheels. I literally was able to extend the pole out to about 14', and I was holding on to the very end of the pole with 3 fingers, and could moved the vacuum head around as if it were not even there. I could not have been more amazed at how effortless it was to use. And the head is very flexible as I was able to vacuum where the corners meet in the deep end by having half the vacuum head on each wall of the corners. I literally vacuum my pool in about 5 minutes (granted there was not a lot to suck up, but I got the entire floor of the deep end, all the corner edges, and some of the shallow end). I didn't have to pick up the vacuum head at all, as I could just walk around the entire pool and just keep rolling the head around as I went. This product works amazingly simple, and very effective (at least for me). I would not hesitate to buy it again, and would definitely recommend it to anyone. I figured that I don't need a vacuum with brushes, as I don't brush the pool with the vacuum head, as that takes an extremely long time. That is why I bought this item....because I just wanted a vacuum.

Best Vacuum head!
The media could not be loaded. This is a great product. Construction is sturdy, it's weighted well so it stays down on the floor of the pool. But it's the wheels that really make it work great. I used to use a triangular bushed vacuum head and you don't really grasp how much effort it is until you try this wheeled vacuum. It just glides across the pool. It sucks across its whole width. It picks up everything, leaves, pine needles and fine dirt. It has a little trouble on stairs, only because you have to push hard to get the sides to curl up the risers the steps.Overall, I'd say I can vacuum my pool in half the time it used to take. Highly recommended.

works well - with reasonable expectations
So far it's working well. As others have pointed out with this type of product, the suction does not extend to the outer edges of the unit. Figure the center of the unit and the first white bars....and maybe to the second bars. The flex head works very well, and the weight keeps it on the bottom. That said, it still requires a bit of a 'touch' to maneuver it and efficiently clean the bottom. The method I have been using is to sweep down the sides, wait a while, then vac the bottom of the pool. Fairly small pool, total work time is under a half hour. And it's a whole lot cheaper (and far fewer parts to break) than the automatic units.

Great for vinyl pools, too!
I have purchased hundreds of items on Amazon and never posted a review. Always thought it was unnecessary and I had nothing to add. This is the exception to that rule. I have been vacuuming my 30,000 gallon vinyl pool for 20+ years with a brush type vacuum that's recommended for vinyl pools. I hated to vacuum as it was so labor and time intensive. I purchased this vacuum head after reading the reviews, and wish I had done it 20 years ago. It is now a pleasure to vacuum my pool. This vacuum head is HEAVY! It's weight keeps it on the bottom of the pool, but the rollers allow it to vacuum the sides easily. I have been using it for several months and have not had any problems with the pool liner with its use.I highly recommend this vacuum head on liner pools. It's a well built head that works extremely well and I anticipate years of use due to the quality of the build.

but either way I'm not completely satisfied.
It vacuums leaves and small debris well, but does not seem to catch dirt or dust at all. I have a pebble-tec lined pool and have been dealing with some pesky dust at the bottom for some months now that wasn't getting caught by my filtration system. I figured I would invest in a manual vacuum to see if it would work, however this product has not solved my problem. It seems to work well enough picking up small leaves and plant debris, but the dust stays in place. I'm not sure if it's because of the pebble-tec or the product, but either way I'm not completely satisfied.

Best Pool Vacuum Head I have ever used!
This is the first time I have used this type of vacuum head. I have used the triangular brush head for nearly 20 years because that is what came with the pool when we bought the house. The pool is a concrete "bowl" bottom and stainless steel side walls and I always believed that this vacuum would be too difficult to use and not pick up as well as the brush type in the bowl-shaped deep end of the pool. I was so wrong. The wheels make it easier to use and it just glides over the pool and actually works much quicker than the other one did. I can now vacuum in about half the time it took me with the old vacuum head. I can't recommend this vacuum enough. It's sturdy with a metal, not plastic handle. If you have a pool liner, then I don't know what to tell you, because I have never had one and I don't know how it works on that.
