Mount St. Helens: Beautiful & DANGEROUS!
"I Survived the Eruption of Mount St. Helens" is a really good book. I really wanted to read this book, because Mount St. Helens is not far from where I live. This story has everything I like in a book such as action, cliff hangers, and must have a good description of the characters. Eleven-year-old Jessie Marlowe has lived with the beautiful Mount St. Helens always outside her door step. She's hiked all of its trails, swam in its extremely cold lakes, and had gone fishing in its streams. Just looking at Mount St. Helens out her window made Jess feel calm and relaxed. She knew the mountain was a volcano, but didn’t know that she would witness the greatest volcanic eruption in U.S history! My first example of why you should read the book is because of all its cliff hangers. For example, on page 25 it reads, “But if it wasn’t skeleton woman, who - or what – was it? ‘It’s the curse!’ Sam screamed. That is a cliff hanger because the 3 kids wondered into “Skeleton Woman’s” (a horror story that says she will curse anybody that comes into her house will be eliminated) and someone comes out of the bedroom wearing a white cloth. Also on page 30 it says, “I think Mount St. Helens is about to erupt.” That is a cliff hanger because the three kids think the volcano is about to erupt. That is why I think "I Survived" has cliff hangers.I also think "I Survived" has lots of action. For example, on page 25 it says, “But it wasn’t her fear that was making her shake. The whole cabin was vibrating.” That has action because the there is an earthquake scaring the 3 kids. Also on page 65 it reads, “That’s just a steam explosion, right?’ Sam asked weakly.” That has action because the mountain blew up when the kids are all alone. That is why "I Survived" has lots of action.Lastly, "I Survived" has an amazing description of characters. For example, on page 5 it says, “Looking across at the twins, Jess saw the two matching buzz-cut heads, four identical green eyes, and about ten thousand freckles.” That is a great description of characters because I rarely read a such a detailed narrative like that in books!Throughout the story, Jess and the twins all learn to never give up hope. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. This is by far one of my favorites and I hope it will be yours in the nearby future!

WE eperienced Mt St Helens eruiption.
I bought this book for my 7 year old grandson who loves reading and reads above his grade level. My only disappointment was the author addressed girls, encouraging them to be adventurous, rather than boys and girls before the title page. I knew it was about a girl surviving this historic event, but thought that wouldn't preclude inclusion of boys. I would feel the same had it been boys and girls. I crossed off girls and wrote Boys and Girls.... so, the book hasn't read the book yet, hopefully he will enjoy the story. Delivery was fast and the book was in new condition as described.

Awesome for all Ages!
My 9 yo daughter has loved the I Survived series for a few years now. Truth be told, I do too.The stories are always about a kid (usually 11yo) who lives through historical disasters, and we learn about those disasters through his/her eyes. The tales are well-written and include facts- as well as historical fiction to hold the audience’s attention. They are exciting and sad; gripping and profound; tragic and heartwarming. You can always count on the main kid-character surviving...but not always the other people in the story.Your child and you will certainly come away with the intended morals:*War is Hell. (D day, Pearl Harbor, Gettysburg, American Revolution, Civil War etc)*People can be evil: (Hitler, 9/11, maybe in a few years, Trump will be a subject of one of her books)*The newest inventions aren’t always the best: (Titanic, Hindenburg)Don’t turn your back on nature: (Tsunamis, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanoes, fires, floods)Animals are wild; don’t turn your back on them either:: (sharks, grizzlies)And molasses is...well. We are reading that one next.Really can not recommend enough.

An 11 year old girl called Jessie Marlowe, and she lives in Cedar. She lived close to St. Helens and when she looked at it she felt calm. She loved to hike on to St .Helens and go on adventures. Jess knew it was a volcano but not a destructive one. Jess thought it was extinct but it was dormant. What I liked: I love the fact that it was historical fiction because it’s a great way for children to learn. It was an amazing book to read not only for a school book, it would be great to read at home to.What I didn’t like: Yes I loved it but there is just one thing I didn’t like. The title is ‘’I survived’’. So you basically you know Jess and the other main characters won’t die.Who I would recommend it for: I would recommend it for 11 to 12. Well, this would be great for any child that loves action but doesn’t like to read non-fiction.Rating 5 starsArfa11 year old Jessie Marlowe lived near a volcano called St.Helens , but for some reason mount St.Helens made Jess calm everyday . Jessie Marlowe was not scared of the volcano because it had been dormant for 100’s of years. Jess lived with her Mom only because her Dad died in a car accident. When her Dad were alive she could tell how hard he worked every single day and then many days later a very bad problem happened. Do you think jess will handle the problem? If I was the author and sold it , I would recommend this book to someone who would like to read about volcanos and a person who enjoys action stuff.I liked how Jess’s Dad worked really hard because it reminds , of all other Dads that work hard . I did not like how the earthquake happened because if I was in an earthquake I would not know how to escape.Rating: 4 starsSamuelI survived is a historical fiction reading book aimed for children who want to learn more about mount St. Helens what has crystal lakes and a monster creeping around St. Helens in a cabin and one little girl called Jess who goes looking for the monster she is only 11 years old with the heart of a lion. She has two friends who are twins. I like how they are twins. I like how Jess is a really brave little girl with no fires I dislike how the monster is evil. I recommend reading this book. Definitely 3 and a half stars.MasonEleven years old Jess lived St. Helens she lived in a beautiful mountain she knew it was a volcano she thought that it wasn’t brutal. Then all of a sudden the eruption happened and Jess was near St. Helen. Can she run in time?I dislike when the eruption happen. If the author is going to sell the book he should give it to school and 7 or 9 years old because it has fact a lot of fact.I would rate this book a 5.Mahir
