Visually fascinating with clear and interesting writing. The author has had considerable experience and every so often gives interesting anecdotes to illuminate each area. Smart writing.

This book explains the industry a bit better beyond just knowing how to operate gear. It's usefulness is in the additional tips you pick up on what to do with your sound career and how each style of production differs. As a Location Sound Recordist I found this book helpful. Don't read it as a complete novice though.
