Bake it till you make it! 🍰
The OXOGood Grips Natural Pastry Brush features premium natural boar bristles that outperform synthetics in softness and pliability. Its thick bristles are designed to hold more liquid, making basting a breeze. The angled head design prevents bristles from touching countertops, while the soft, non-slip grip ensures comfort during use. Plus, it's dishwasher safe and ideal for all your baking needs, including non-stick and ceramic surfaces.

Bristles shedding excessively
This brush sheds bristles excessively. Despite expecting some shedding, especially with brushes made with natural animal hair, the sheer amount of bristle loss is unacceptable and indicates poor mounting. Even with a gentle stroke, I consistently find at least six bristles coming loose. This level of shedding greatly impacts the appearance of products in my micro bakery kitchen.Initially, I suspected a defective brush, but unfortunately, it seems that is not the case. The OXO representative indicated that this shedding is to be expected due to the brush's "natural bristles." This is not true. If mounted properly one might pick up a couple of bristles, but not 10 and more. I prefer working with brushes that have natural bristles and this is the first one in over 30 years that I am discarding after a couple of uses.I cannot continue using a brush that compromises the quality of my work. Therefore, I have no choice but to discard it. This is disappointing, especially considering my frequent purchase of OXO products, which have typically offered a great price/quality ratio. This situation is a sad exception to that trend.I generally contact sellers before rating a product, as most issues can be resolved through communication. However, OXO appears to be an exception to this rule, as their response has been unsatisfactory. In summary, I would advise against purchasing OXO brushes, as the shedding bristles pose a significant problem. The natural color of these bristles makes it challenging to remove them entirely from your creations, further exacerbating the issue.

Pastry/ barbecue brush
This brush is easy to clean and was not overly expensive. My previous brush started losing it’s bristles.

Ok, but Bristles Come Out
The handle is decent, and the angle of the brush is ergonomic, but the bristles can come out in your food especially when the brush is new. I recommend giving it an aggressive cleaning when first purchased to get any loose ones out, and be vigilant when using it.

Not a quality product!
My husband purchased this for me as part of my Christmas gift, so I’ve had it about 7 months. I needed a second brush in the kitchen, and I picked this one without reading reviews. I have used it minimally (not even once a week) since for the purpose of spreading oil on homemade pizza crust. Since the first use, bristles have come out. I went to use it last night, and the bristles started coming out more than usual, and before long the whole brush part was coming off the handle! You can see in photos. Waste of money, and I love OXO products in my kitchen. I cook regularly, and we seldom eat out! I’m very disappointed in the quality.

To "paint" olive oil onto bread
I bought two of these: one to paint olive oil onto bread (instead of any of the spreads out there), and the other for any other basting and brushing such as egg white brushed onto pastry. They work fine, and the grip is good.

Ok, we'll see how long it lasts
I'd just like to start by saying I generally love OXO products but I'm not sure how well this is going to last and the quality is suspect. Immediately upon opening some bristles fell out and there are a few that stick out at an angle from the rest of the bristles that won't lay flat with all the rest. Going to keep it and at least use it a few times before I give a 100% yes or no (will update my review) but I bought a new pastry brush so I wouldn't have to pick brush hairs out of my cooking, and this might defeat that purpose. Kind of have a feeling I might end up at Williams-Sonoma haha.

Major disappointment
I've always considered OXO to be a quality brand for kitchen utensils. My previous OXO natural-bristle brush lasted for several years, dropping only the occasional bristle. When It finally was too thin for convenience, I ordered a new one. This brush has been shedding whole clumps of bristles every time I use it. All I have to do is give it a shake, and bristles fly out. I have had it for one year, and it won't survive a second one, even though I am using it with great care and not exposing it to the dishwasher at all (unlike the previous OXO brush, which I ran through the dishwasher regularly).
