SmallRig 15mm Single Rod Clamp with Integrated NATO Rail

I’m a professional photographer and videographer, and I originally bought this SmallRig 15mm single rod clamp to integrate a follow focus/zoom control system into my Sony camera rig. I wanted a clean way to attach a standard 15mm rod directly to the cage without having to install a complete dual-rod baseplate when I only needed one rod. For that purpose, this works extremely well. The integrated NATO rail is probably my favorite part of the design. I can attach it directly to a compatible cage, position it where I need it, and have a solid mounting point for the 15mm rod. It keeps the setup compact and makes it much easier to add or remove the rod system depending on the type of shoot. I’ve used this type of setup to mount a follow-focus motor for controlling the zoom ring on lenses such as my Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 and Sony 70-200mm f/2.8. Having the rod firmly attached to the cage is important because any movement in the rod can affect how consistently the motor engages with the lens gear. This clamp locks down securely and gives the motor a rigid mounting point. I also appreciate that SmallRig kept the design simple. There isn’t a lot of unnecessary hardware adding weight or taking up space around the camera. For handheld or tripod video configurations where I only need a single 15mm rod, that makes a big difference. I eventually moved toward a dual 15mm rod system for some of my heavier configurations because I also wanted proper lens support for lenses like my Sigma 135mm f/1.4. That requires a different type of setup, but that isn’t a limitation of this product. For its intended purpose as a compact single-rod mounting solution, this clamp does exactly what I need. Solid construction, secure NATO attachment, good rod clamping pressure, and very easy to integrate into a professional camera rig. Five stars.

I have purchased two of these adapters now. I used them I’m with various follow focus systems and they all work great. Solid machinery and doesn’t seem to loose any quality over time. I have had one for over a year now and it runs every thing I need for my rig. Very useful tool that I would recommend adding to your camera gear

I bought this so I can attach the nucleus nano controller to a rod. The nano controller fits perfectly and the piece is machined perfectly and without flaws.

Used it on my BMPCC6K rig and no on my Ursa Mini Pro 12K. Use it to mount my monitor on the top handle while having a rail going through it for my shotgun mic. Well built.

Perfect setup for when I don’t need both rails and just want to keep my rig minimal. Also doesn’t add any weight

One of my most useful camera cage accessories - having this for the top handle and follow focus makes adjusting the rig very quick. The NATO rail allows me to slide on a top handle within seconds or remove it instantly if I don't need it. And having the rod mount at the top allows me to keep the rig small and minimal.
