Overall, this is a good hospital bed and meets our needs of caring for someone who is bedridden. I rated the bed 4 rather than 5 stars for the following 2 reasons. The foam mattress is very thin, so we added a pad in order to make it more comfortable. Additionally, the bed moves when we take my mom out of bed or while she's working with the physical therapist because there are only 2 locking wheels rather than 4. We've asked Medline for 2 more locking wheels and are awaiting a reply from quality control.UPDATE: Medline responded quickly and immediately shipped 2 locking wheels, which I received within 1 week of contacting the manufacturer. Their response to my concern exceeded my expectations.

I was told shipping would take 7-10 days, but amazingly, the shipping company called me two days after I placed my order to set up a delivery time the next day. They unloaded the pallet of 2 large boxes, 1 small box (half rails), and mattress in my garage (not allowed to enter my house), and after opening them, I was able to move the bed into my mom's room piece by piece. They were heavy, but doable (I'm a 54 yr old 5'6" 140 lb. female). Assembly was confusing at times, but common sense helped it go much smoother. All told, it took me about 2 hours to move all the pieces and assemble the bed.When raising and lowering the whole bed, it is a little noisy, but that works in my favor, as my mom raises the bed to get up in the mornings, and that's my cue to check on her. Raising and lowering the head and/or foot sections is much quieter, which is also good, since she adjusts the bed throughout the night and I don't hear it.I bought this bed with the foam mattress and half rails. I've read that many people feel the springs in the other type of mattress, and my mom has had no complaints with the foam so far (going on two weeks). Also, the rails were extremely easy to install.I'm very happy with this bed so far, and will probably buy another one for my brother's house, with whom I have "joint custody" of our mom. 😉

This bed is more comfortable for my dad. The extra width helps him be able to turn on his side better than the bed that Medicare made us take, which broke after 2 years!! Now we paid extra for a bed that was fully electric, the head and legs raise, but the bed itself will not raise. We are back to hand cranking. I bought the more expensive bed to have that feature, but it is not working on this bed. If that feature was working, I'd rate this product and supplier with 5 stars!! I contacted the supplier. They asked for my phone number, but then have still not gotten back to me to arrange for someone to come to the house and fix the bed. If they do that, I may be open to adjusting my rating, but it depends on how long this takes and whether they fix the bed or not.

Some reviews mentioned the difficulty of putting this together. I had no problem very easy, directions were easy to follow. Motors are so quiet you can't hear them operate. The mattress could be better.

They send this bed without the Center Drive Shaft, so you can not rise the bed as they advertise it. And the spring mattress is not firm enough.

relatively easy to assemble, reasonably priced. bought to replace a semi electric bed, the full electric makes caring for my bedridden father much easier. shipped and arrived quickly. very happy with this purchase.

This bed is very helpful for all of us caring for my 92 year old father. It was fairly easy to put together and works well. It is quiet while working to lift him up or down. I'm so glad we got it.

The bed arrived several days before expected. It is roomier than I expected. Assembling does take quite a while.
