A Delicious Side Dish That Makes It Easy To Replace Rice With A Healthier And Heartier Option
Duru Extra Coarse Bulgur is a delicious side dish that makes it easy to replace rice with a healthier and heartier option. The bag holds 5.5 pounds of bulgur. When it comes to the directions, it was pretty general and not entirely helpful for someone making bulgur for the first time. The provided instructions simply state "Don't wash and soak. Cook 1 cup Duru Bulgur by adding 2 cups of hot water." As someone new to cooking bulgur, I was expecting at least a listed time as to how long it takes to cook. This was not provided. When I read the description, it sounded like how I cook quinoa - place the ingredient in a bowl, add hot water, cover and let sit. Well, I attempted this and after 15 minutes found that nothing was happening. I ended up placing the bulgur and hot water in a pot and boiling on the stove until all of the water was absorbed. This actually ended up working perfectly. The bulgur had a tender chew and a nutty flavor that reminded me of farro. I mixed the prepared bulgur into a salad. It was delicious! I like that bulgur can be paired with so many dishes. The bulgur is high in fiber and protein. I noticed that when I ate a meal with the bulgur, I did not snack afterwards as I usually do. The manufacturer listed only one recipe on the back of the bag but it is written in Turkish. There are 55 servings in this bag with each serving size amounting to 1/3 cup. The only negative I have for this product is that I wish the bag was resealable. It would have made it easier to store the product if it were in a resealable bag. I ended up having to find a container to store it. It is a Product of Turkey. I really enjoyed this bulgur and plan on buying it again.

Nutty flavor, easy to make
This is a large bag, a little over 5 pounds. It does not come in a resealable pouch (why not!?). So after opening, I transferred it to a mylar bag and added a few oxygen absorbers to keep it fresh. There are no instructions on the package other than to say, Do not wash or soak, use 1 cup bulgur to 2 cups water and use hot water. Hmmmm. So I went to the internet and found that for course bulgur this was correct, but it is only partial cooking instructions. Once you add the hot water, you need to boil for about 20 minutes. Yup. Turned out perfect. The cooked bulgur was delicious on its own. I added a little salt and olive oil and ate it for lunch. It has a nutty taste and a "rice pilaf" type texture.

Extra coarse whole grain bulgur. Easy to prepare; good fiber source. Lower calories than rice.
This is a large quantity of extra large bulgur wheat.Over five pounds in a simple plastic bag. Suggested improvement: A resealable plastic pouch for longer-term storage. This may not be needed for commercial users, but for residential users, this will be very helpful.Excellent base for grain bowls. This bulgur cooks similar to rice in about 20 minutes with a one part bulbur to two parts liquid. We used rich chicken stock, cooked it in an instant pot, and made a buddha bowl with sauteed Asian vegetables. The bulgur was flavorful and well cooked but retained a nice bite and absorbed some of the vegetable sauces.Fiber rich and lower in calories than white rice with a nicer, coarser texture.A good value when offered at about $20 at the time of our review - especially for an extra coarse whole grain bulgur.
