unique product
in a 2 door wrangler, adding any space is worthwhile.. this keeps straps and fire extinguisher out of the way. awesome.bonus … no longer have to worry about extinguisher being in a hot interior. they are not rated for the temps it can reach in there during the summer.

Wow Impressed !!!!
First thing is...I didn't realize it was going to be so thick and substantial. It's heavy duty! As you can see, I mounted it to my tire and rerouted my third brake light/license light and license plate to it. It was really easy to install. I watched their installation video first but it's not that necessary because it's simple to install.I have a 2 door Jeep so space is extremely limited. It was really convenient to be able to put gear that I always use on the outside. I didn't have to swing out my tire, open the back, and find my mallet, air hose, tire deflater, etc...., and then close it all up. I also needed a snatch strap cause I got stuck in some snow and it was right there. When I was done with it, it was snowy and a bit wet but I didn't care because it was going back in the gear box.

Thick Plastic But For What Though??
The concept of having the extra space seems like a stellar idea. Whether or not it’s a functional space or usable space I’m just not there yet. Why all the holes? If it’s going to be on the rear of the vehicle or even on the spare tire underneath the vehicle it’s fully exposed to all the weather, dirt, grime and subject to all the changes in heat and cold and then heat again. It will loosen over time from that. But the holes make the space usable to things that can be exposed to the weather and nothing else. I could try and make it waterproof but what’s the point. At over 250$ it’s a bust for me. It has its place for some but I believe it’s failing at not being more usable to more people. I’d pass. Two Stars ⭐️⭐️

Beefy, adds storage, not air or water tight
I have to say this is well built in materials and craftsmanship. Think roto molded type plastics such as a high end cooler, but a bit thicker. This has ratchet straps for attaching to your spare tire. For reference I have an old school teraflex bumper mount swing away tire carrier and bumper. The entire back of this has holes, (similar in function as a MOLLE system), where you will use the included double sided velcro to attach your gear through. I use heavy duty releaseable zip ties, and 1" webbing lashing straps instead, since our rig is primarily offroad and rock crawling. Since it has all these attachment holes, the silt from dirt roads finds its way though, well at least where I travel. I found myself on one trip covering the backs of the holes with duct tape. Not that our recovery gears isn't or doesn't get dirty, but the ropes get embedded with silt and aren't as flexible and don't need a rope weighing more than it needs to. I haven't has an issue with stuff getting soaked, just damp with heavy rains, but it will fill with water if your going through somewhere that deep. I run 37" tires and the diameter is small enough to allow me to still attach 2 rotopax, two gallon, ratchet strapped around the circumference or tread of the tire. This is secured closed using your own hitch lock, or you can be creative with something else, but you'll have to use something or the lid will flop open and if your gear isn't secured to the back wall well then you know, you'll lose your gear. It is hinged at the top, which is good and bad. You have to hold the lid up with one hand depending on how its configured with your setup. Something to consider when placing items in this, depending on where or how your stuck and in need of self recovery, if your back end is pinned against a bank or tree, you won't have access to all those goods inside it. For folks with newer jeeps, this will cover your back up camera. You can still use a spare tire trash bag over this, but expect you will need to be creative at attaching it 9r add length to the webbing straps. Overall it's nicely built and has its use. I typically only use it when overlanding and won't be going through forseen rock crawls. For one it adds a good amount of weight when loaded and adds some extra clearance issues. I wouldn't mind a thinner version of this, with more of a heavy duty MOLLE type system, and lose the open to air holes on the back. I'll be making a few modifications to set it up better for my use. I'll be adding some hooks using "J" bolt hooks washers and nylock nuts through the rear holes.Hopefully this was helpful, Thank you!

Unique & Useable
Pros:LockableStorageEasy To AccessUniqueUniversal FitTool-less InstallationHeavy DutyDurableWater ResistantCons:No LockHingeSecuring Option ProvidedWhat I received in the package:1 x OFF ROAD IN MIND Offroad Recovery Gear Toolbox2 x Racketing Straps1 x Length of Loop Tape1 x Instruction SheetThis OFF ROAD IN MIND Offroad Recovery Gear Toolbox product is roughly 24” x 24” x 7” and weighs approximately 15.38 lbs. This product is like nothing I have seen before. It is not something that I would want to mount permanently. However, it does seem to be a handy storage space for my off-road gear when on the trail. I am off-road practically 3 of 4 weekends and storage is always a premium. As a Jeep owner, for full functionality of the back seats. You cannot store anything under them if you want to be able to fold them down when you need the cubic space. That can be a hassle when one of the only spaces available in a Jeep is under the seats. So this storage solution gives you access to off-roading gear without taking up internal room in the Wrangler. It does not protrude out too much on the spare tire when mounted.Installation. Installation of this toolbox is about as easy as it gets. It is fastened by a couple of racketing straps. Done.Capacity. This toolbox holds about 1850 cubic inches which is a little over 8 gallons. Which allows me to hold much of what I would bring with me on the trail.Design. Items that you can put in the toolbox are able to be strapped in so they don’t move around. It also is lockable so you can secure the contents. The case is heavy duty and can withstand quite a bit of punishment. It is relatively low profile only extending out about 7” from the tire. There are a couple of things I don’t care for about this product. The whole unit is well constructed. The hinge point is the weakest part of the product. It looks decent but I could see it taking wear from side to side movement and opening it at an angle. The other concern more for those who would like to have this installed more permanently is that in certain configurations, this product is easily stolen. If you have a swing away tire carrier, like me, the racketing straps are easy to cut and you can simply remove this and go. So I would recommend securing it with U-bolts with round heads so they cannot be taken off. I have yet to find a compatible set but I am sure it will eventually. Also, my third eye brake light that I have mounted inside of the spare tire is not visible with this toolbox installed. I suppose if you wanted this mounted more permanently you can find a way to install it on the toolbox cover. But for those who have a configuration like me, it makes the braking system liable to getting a citation for not having a visible third eye. But the likelihood of getting stopped for that is low. You can also explain why it is like that and hope law enforcement understands. Or you can just mount it when you get to the the trail. For a product at this price, I would expect the locking mechanism to be included. Not sure what their cost is here, but a complete unit ready to hit the trail is a must. I should not have to purchase a separate lock, especially since you cannot secure the cover without one.IRL testing, the toolbox worked well and did not hamper my off-roading at all. It was quiet and did not move around …. much. While it didn’t have to need to use it during my testing, it is a nice peace of mind product for when you need it.I was unable to locate any warranty either in the product information or item description.I appreciate you taking the time to read this. I received this product in exchange for an honest review. All in all, I found this to be a uniquely useful product. It fits a niche market that is always looking for new innovation for Jeepers. While I attempted to find a competitive product. There was nothing I could find so that makes this a highly unique item. So I cannot price compare to see if the asking price is valid or high. All I can tell you is that I would purchase this again … so I guess it is worth the price to me. It solves a number of problems that as a Jeeper, I have to deal with more often than I should have to. This gives me back some storage that I lost by not filling the space under my back seats. Hope this information was helpful. [5 Stars]This product is made in China.
