Are the north and south poles, top and bottom or side to side?

If you hold the magnets together, will they push apart?  I'm looking to repel a magnetic screen that keeps sticking to my door.

These particular magnets are a lighter duty magnet, and depending on the weight and ferrous metal content of your door or screen, may not be the best product.

Hello, thank you for your question. Each ring is rated to hold up to 2 lbs. when placed in a horizontal position on a flat, smooth ferrous metal surface. We don't have a Gauss rating available for this particular magnets, but the following information is generally true for Ceramic 5, which is the material these are made with:
BH Max: 3.40 MGO
BR: 3800 Gauss
HC: 2400 Oesterads
HCi: 2800 oesterads
