This book is fabulous!!! It is well done, and the book weighs a good 3 lbs. The photographs are beautiful, with a page for each actor with a synopsis about each of them. If you are into Western stars of the past, this is the book for you. There are a lot of faces you will recognize, and now you can put a name to that face. Very familiar faces. I bought a copy for myself and a copy for some friends of mine, who I know will enjoy this book. I was also able to get autographs by going to the book signings. I can't say enough about this book.

I received my copy day before yesterday from Amazon and "peeked" (honestly-you can't tear your eyes away from this amazing book!) before my husband wrapped it and put it under the tree. I had been following the Unsung Heroes and Villains Facebook page forever, eagerly awaiting publication so I'd already seen so many beautiful pictures. Honestly though-there are so many more than I could ever have imagined and actors I hadn't known would be included. This is a treasure trove for fans-a reunion with people we have loved (and sometimes loved to hate) all our lives and some of the talented "newcomers" as well. Lots of good feels and memories of rolicking adventures in this for sure. To say these exquisite, painstakingly staged pictures are "beautiful" is an understatement. They are museum quality. The Native Americans were right, the camera apparently does steal the soul of its subjects because you can look in the faces of each and see who they are and what they're feeling. Steve Carver is an incredible artist ! C. Courtney Joyner's biographies and interviews are insightful. informative, respectful . He treats the actors with dignity (there may be one here and there who suffered some bad luck along the way) focusing on they're contributions and accomplishments yet sympathetic regarding their misfortunes.I want to mention too the quality of this gorgeous volume-the paper is so thick I kept thinking my fingers held two pages instead of one and as some has already said, it's quite heavy . This will be proudly displayed in our home. Every layout on every page is a feast for the eyes (and the heart!). Thank you, thank you Steve Carver and C. Courtney Joyner.

I bought 3 books two for gifts and one I kept. This book was made with incredible photography. The book writer knew the perfection that it took for the era of his photographs. You can tell how much work that was done with this book. The writing and photography Steve Carver you have made a treasure.

The author and photographer of this book have done such an amazing job. Black and white photography can say so much more at times. The stories included are informative and interesting. I can sit and read it through or just browse the pictures. I particularly love the picture of L.Q. Jones. Mr. Jones is a marvelous actor, writer, director, etc. His picture to me represents the old west so well. As do the others in the book. Thank you for putting this together.
