Perfect!
Easy installation and these do exactly what they are designed to do. Added accent paneling over a few wall areas and we needed to extend some outlets and switches. Nice fit and outlets and switches are now where they need to be and are mounted firmly in place.

1 gang electrical box extender
I had no idea these were available. I had never seen them in my local stores. These are excellent! My tiled wall recessed my switches and plugs too much. These were affordable and easy to install. Now the kitchen is complete, and looks professionally done.

Excellent Easy-to-Install Solution For Electrical Boxes That Have Been Installed Below Tile or Wood Paneling
Nice easy solution for a common problem when electrical boxes have been installed below tile or wood paneling (and in some cases wall board) and are therefore not flush with the surface. Wood paneling is flammable so it is dangerous to leave exposed; Tile is not flammable but often provides an uneven or insecure surface for mounting the outlet or switch straps. This extender box easily solves this. It just slides inside the electrical box and provides as much as 1.5" of extra depth. It has large edges that overlap the tile or paneling and spread out any unevenness. It came with really long 2" screws, but I find these to be about 1/2" too long for most paneling/tile needs so I just keep some 1 1/2" 6/32 screws around. The only problem I've had was with an old-work situation where the underlying 2-gang box was comprised of 2 single-gang metal boxes that had been connected together but didn't align perfectly. As a result, the four screw holes of the extender did not align with the underlying holes. Fixing this wasn't a big deal -- the plastic is pretty thing so I just drilled the holes larger and widened them with a 3/16"-1/4" drill bit. It only took a few seconds. You wouldn't have this problem on newer work using a pre-molded 2-gang boxes. Thanks to other reviewers to two useful suggestions: (1) use tin snips to cut away some of the extra plastic depth if you only need 1/2-3/4" instead of the 1.5" it provides, leaving more room in the box; and (2), If the switches/outlets are already installed and don't have a lot of wire play you can cut one of the side edges (or perhaps even both) to enable installation without having to remove the wires from the existing outlet.

Electrical box extender
Quite often, a book case or shelving is placed in front of where electrical wall outlets are. These extenders allow access to the outlets without having to tear the wall apart to relocate the wall outlet box. In my case, I placed a large book case in front of several wall outlets, blocking them. I cut holes in the back panels of the book cases corresponding to where the wall outlets were located. After the book cases were installed, these box extenders are inserted and secured with long mounting screws furnished with the extenders. The electrical outlet then mounts to the extender instead of the wall outlet box as before. These extenders are a unique and inexpensive solution to a difficult problem. Check the dimensions of the old wall outlet box before cutting holes in cases or shelving. Electrical boxes come in sizes that vary somewhat from manufacturer to manufacturer. The extenders will fit most, but some wall boxes may be a little too small for the extender (which is wedge shaped) to go all the way in. You will have to get the extender first before you will know for sure.

Pretty useless without the extended screws
The product is fine. Getting five extenders without the screws makes them less useful.

Perfect
Old steel box set too deep in a plaster and lathe wall. As a result, the switches were set too deep from the face plate. This is the perfect fix. Easy to install and fixes the switch depth issue and also covers the gap between the old box and the finished wall surface. Does not reduce the box size at all.

What Are These Designed To Do?
Keep in mind what these extenders are designed to do. The purpose is to fill a gap when the box is not flush with the wall due to adding a back splash, sloppy box install, etc. The manufacturer’s videos and marketing material shows an install in a perfect world which is not usually the case. Some reviewers complained about the BE1 being too thin and flexible to stay in place for a drywall cut that is larger than the box. I agree, but this is due to bad construction or remodel. If this is the case and you still prefer to use the BE1 all you need to do is simply use spacers between the extender and box which will put the pressure on the box, not your wall when screwing the outlet in place. See photo 5 for the type of spacers I used. The outlet is now completely enclosed in the BE1 and there are no gaps which is safer.I used the BE1 to correct a very bad box install on a slightly bent plastic box. The flexibility of the BE1 came in handy. A very rigid extender would not have worked in this case. See photos 1 thru 4.This five pack BE1 I purchased did not come with screws. The extenders came in a zip lock bag. My best guess is the seller buys them in bulk and puts them in the bag. See photo 6. I also bought a pack of the extenders from a local retailer. The extenders came with 2 inch screws in a sealed bag with the manufacturer’s logo, etc. printed on the bag. Before starting your project have 6-32 machine screws of sufficient length handy.

Simple solution
Found an outlet at church that was installed inside a cabinet, and the outlet wasn't screwed into the box (YIKES!). So this extender was the perfect solution to electrically isolate the outlet from the metal box below. Also installed spacers (sold separately) between the outlet and electrical metal box.Installation Note: This piece is flexible enough where-by you can deform it enough to get the outlet through the opening without needing to disconnect the wiring. The extender box is also sized correctly to fit underneath a standard wall plate (see picture #2).Note: the wood was cut poorly, and oversized (as can be seen in the first picture). I first tried installing this without the extender box, but was not able to get the outlet secured sufficiently (still wiggled just a little when pulling a plug out). So this extender had just enough "ears" to firm up the installation. My take away is that if you were cutting a new hole, you'd want to leave behind more material as you can always cut again.

Great product
It was exactly what i needed for the wall receptacle after installing a thick quartz backsplash. Super easy to use and fit perfectly. I Like the product but did think it a tad pricey but would recommend it and buy again.

It got the job done! Great box extender bundle
I used this box extender for a receptacle on the side of a kitchen island. It worked perfectly because the countertop was waterfall style.

Great idea
I used this after finishing a wall with strapping and laminate flooring so the box was over an inch below the finished surface. This extender worked perfectly and was very easy to install. Since it can accomodate different set backs the extras can be used on future projects. Nice neat result.
