You place the loop over the top and stretch the string to the tip and begin wrapping in a clockwise direction, moving up. You put the star on the outside of your hand and keeping the string taut, put the metal tip against your thumb and the top against your fingertips. Using an angle between vertical and horizontal, you throw the top about 3 feet in front of you, with the string finishing about 6 inches above the floor.
