Powerful bass but demands a strong amp
Why I ordered this item: My old sub blew after a couple years of daily bass duty and I wanted something that could hit hard in a sealed box without costing a fortune. Skar has a good name in the car audio world so I gave this one a shot. Likes: * This thing hits crazy good for a single 15. My sealed box gets loud enough that my mirrors buzz at half volume. * The basket is thick metal and the surround looks like it can take a beating. * That red spider they use looks kind of snazzy through the vents on my box. Little detail but it's cool to see. * Bass is deep and tight, not sloppy or boomy. I can still make out individual notes in bass-heavy songs instead of just rumble. * I ran dual 2 ohm to my amp and had the terminals hooked up in a couple minutes. No likes: * This sub is heavy. Mounting it by myself in my trunk was kind of a pain and I wish there were more hand holds on the basket. * It needs a lot of power to really wake up. On a weaker amp it sounds fine but nothing special, you need to feed this thing. Would I pay full price for this product: Yes Final thoughts: For a single 15 this thing gets stupid loud without falling apart at higher volumes. It's built for people who already have a decent amp and a proper box, not a casual weekend project. If you just want a little extra thump this might be overkill, but if you want real bass this thing gives it to you.

Very Loud
Hits so hard when broken in, with the right amount of power being supplied this sub can defiantly flex windows. I had mine for almost a year and it has been amazing! The sub will definitely take your parts off in your interior, my rear view mirror popped off, and my sunglasses storage up top popped off too! Noise there is a lot of rattle, but it doesn’t disappoint. If you want nice loud bass go for it.

don't get too caught up in the box making details...
no need to get too caught up in all the info out there on boxes and ports and tuning and bla bla bla...bunch of self strokers who want to sound like they know what they're talking about...buy 2 of these subs...build 2 boxes that they fit into (or one box for 2 subs if you'd like) with a little wiggle room inside the box...wiggle room cuz you're going to have to make the boxes very very sturdy with inner bracing...even if you use 3/4 inch mdf...brace the heck out of the boxes and user generous amounts of screws and glue...maker the port about 8 to 10 inches deep into one front side of the box...2 inches wide, and however tall your box is...double layer of mdf or plywood should be used on the front side where you actually attach the subwoofer with screws...nice 2 inmch long stainlessmsteel machine style scrtews with fat phillips heads on them...you'll need allthe fixings like speaker wire and terminals and whatever your setup requires...and don't skimp on the juice...big watts and big subs need big amps...I got two EVL 15's ...dual 2ohm voice coils wired for 4 ohms a piece...hooked up to a rockville RPA16 10,000 watt peak amp...so it really puts out about 1500 watts per channel under 4ohms of impedence...you should pick up a basic crossover for whatever your setup is...it'll give your more control over which frequencies are going to which speakers...you absolutely need a crossover in a sub scenario...my setup is for home audio so it also makes it easier for me because I don't need to mess with the crossover switch on the back of the amp when its buried under all the other gear and cables in the stack...my crossover unit is at the front end of the signal chain right at my fingertips...i've never had to run the amp at more than half capacity and the volume is beyond ridiculous...i don't get off on seeing how low i can force my subs to go...I listen to music....really really loud music with heavy leanings toward bass filled music...like drum and bass stuff they are big on over in the UK and such....I am more than pleased with the performance and sound quality of the EVL 15's....been running them for several months...can't review anything else from Skar cuz I don't own anything else from them...but the EVL 15's are awesome so far...i'm sure my neighbors feel differently about them...lol

Best budget subs you can find please don’t go buy Walmart subs just spend a little extra
Had this in a skar box for about 5 years and it held up on 1200wt the whole time and then I sold it to a kid who blew it up on 1500w5 the first week so I guess if you take care of it and don’t let it clip you’re golden, super loud inverted and beautiful sound for the price a lot of people compare skar to sundown but really it’s in its own playing field these aren’t competition subs but if you want people to know you’re coming down the street they will do fine super heavy high quality magnet I even broke the basket on this by dropping it the first month and it still played beautifully for five years looks super sleek normal or inverted

Amazing subwoofer
Haven't been able to turn it up super loud yet due to having a quarter glass replaced just over 36 hours ago but it sounds amazing and hits super hard. Very well built for sure. Took me about 10 minutes to get it wired up and in my box down to 1 ohm and installed. Its massive. First 15 ive ever had i am very happy

Sounds great
I have a Rockford Fosgate 1000×1 bd amplifier (1465 actual watts). I was running two RF P3D4 12 inch subs (1200 rms) at 1 ohm. They sound great. After reading about and checking the reviews on this Skar Audio EVL-15 (1250 rms) I wanted to compare it to the RF'S. I have it in a SKBox, also sold by Skar. In my opinion this EVL-15 sounds better. Lows are more present and vibrations are significantly more. It is louder than the other two. I even needed to turn the amp down a bit, and it is still louder! I am impressed. I bet the Skar amplifiers are great also. One day I hope too try them also. I am a fanatic about Rockford quality, a believe their products are superior and well worth what they cost, at the top of the line. However, for now into the future I will be running this Skar EVL-15. I like it very much and will continue using it. Unless something goes sideways with it I will not amend this review. Heads up though, as other reviewers have posted, it does put out a smell. Hopefully in time it will stop....

Boom bom bom
Not a big fan of the sound quality but it is loud for the money. Also if you push it at its peak every time you play it she’ll pop.
