Robust and sturdy
This enclosure is sturdy and well made. The mesh is sheer enough for the caterpillars to attach and complete their metamorphosis into beautiful butterflies. It is tall enough to put in longer sticks for the caterpillars to climb up and explore their surroundings. I used canning jars with holes in the lids to hold freshly cut milkweed. Great experience with this enclosure.

Absolutely essential if you are committed to helping save Monarch butterflies.
This helped enormously in my wish to help the Monarch butterfly species. I can see the chrysalides easily, and when they emerge they have lots of room to flap around until they are ready to be released. Other caterpillars in their final instar have lots of room on the bottom of the cage. I am so glad I bought this.

More rigid = Stable = Good; perfect size too
Made with springy metal bands stronger than other models, this habitat is much more stable than the wiggly ones. Stability makes it easier to refresh milkweed supply and to clean up caterpillar frass without shaking the habitat and disturbing the critters. 30" tall size is optimum for us, allowing taller milkweed stalks to provide more abundant food. The 24" tall versions were too short and the 36" ones too bulky and even more wiggly. The zipper is protected over its entire length on the inside of the habitat by a fold of netting. Sure enough, the first chrysalis of 12 formed directly against the zipper area. Thanks to the protective fold, there was no conflict with operating the zipper. We have kept our butterfly habitat indoors to protect it from winds, damp foggy nights, and marauding animals. Even if designed for the outdoors, the superior features are valuable indoors too.

Best butterfly enclosure
This enclosure was the perfect size for our first year. We had 15 caterpillars and 12 made it to butterflies. This was the most fascinating experience. Highly recommend anyone that lives near milkweed plants to do this. Not only is it a wonderful nature project but it helps save the monarch butterflies. Ninety percent of monarch butterflies in the wild do not make it to be butterflies. We had an 80% success rate.

Great for raising butterflies!
We are having a great time with this mesh cage! The birds and other predators were eating the Monarch caterpillars in the garden so we thought we’d try to save them. We bought this mesh cage after much research. We put a potted plant inside for added sturdiness and to offer a place for the chrysalises to attach.. The zippers work very well and make it easy to access from the top or bottom. Nice height. So far, we have released one monarch, have 3 chrysalises attached at the top of the mesh cage and several more caterpillars munching on milkweed.Would definitely recommend!
